About this Cook
I am a very busy wife, and mom of two girls. I used to look at cooking a meal or baking goodies as a huge chore. But now as I am getting a little older I am really enjoying being in the kitchen and expiramenting with different recipes.
My favorite things to cook
Living in Iowa, the weather determines what I cook. In the cold winters I use my crock pot alot for soups, stews and whatever crock pot recipes from this site look yummy. In the hot summer it's all about grilling! There are so many great grilling recipes on this site, whether it's for meat or grilling veggies. I love looking through this site to plan for my weeks worth of meals.
My favorite family cooking traditions
For the past couple of years I have started holiday baking. My oldest daughter loves to help me in the kitchen and it gives us some quality one on one time. We crank up the Christmas music and bake our little hearts out! We have lots of fun. In a couple of years my youngest daughter will be able to join in the baking fun. I hope the tradition continues for them when they are mothers.
My cooking triumphs
Any time I can get something on the table for dinner that everyone likes is a triumph in my opinion.
My cooking tragedies
Given that there is a limit of 1000 characters, I don't think there is enough room to mention tragedies. Plus I would not even know where to start!!

Orange Fluff I
I grew up on this salad and love it! It's such a breeze to make and many people enjoy it.

Orzo and Rice
What a simple side dish recipe to have around. My kid's love the Lipton rice side dishes and this a close match. After reading some of the reviews on it tasting a little bland, I decided to alter the recipe a smidge (which I don't like doing). I went to the spice rack and grabbed some thyme, rosemary, basil and parsely to add a little more flavor and a splash of color. Overall a good recipe, thanks for sharing.

Funnel Cakes III
I had some fresh strawberries to use up so I decided to top some funnel cakes with them. I made a small alteration to the recipe and added vanilla to the batter. I poured the batter in a piping bag and added it to the oil. I sprinkled powdered sugar on some of the cakes and I also made up a powdered suger glaze to top the rest.
