Kid's Favorite Meatballs

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2001
Excellent easy & delicious recipe. I decided to try this last night since I didn't have much time to prepare anything & already had all the ingredients. The only thing I did differently since I try to stay away from red meat was use ground turkey instead. It was outstanding - kids & hubby loved it and we had no leftovers! Thanks for sharing Jen!!

BLT Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2001
YUM - totally tastes like a BLT. Used fat-free sour cream, low fat mayo, low-salt bacon & it was still really tasty...it's a keeper!

Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2001
Before starting the recipe I read EVERY review and jotted down notes...I try to stay away from red meat so I used ground turkey. I also used an extra can of french onion soup (adding more flour to thicken as well), cut back on the ketchup and added mushrooms. We served over rice instead of mashed potatoes - YUM!!!!! Excellent recipe!!

Award Winning Peaches and Cream Pie

This was good...very, VERY good...I made it for Thanksgiving and everyone loved it, I loved that I didn't have to make a pie crust. Awesome recipe - thanks Debbi!

Crab Puffs

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2001
These are insanely yummy and addictive...my husband doesn't care for cream cheese and my daughter has denounced all seafood, so my 4-year old son and I ate a ton of these while watching a video together. Will definitely make again!!!

Oranged Cranberry Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2001
This sauce was amazing on Thanksgiving spooned over my turkey, and even better the next few days on my leftover-turkey-sandwiches. Plus my house smelled fantastic while it cooked. A winner - I'll make this every Thanksgiving from now on!!!

Spinach Roll-Ups

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2002
I've been making these for years...instead of regular onions I chop up 4-5 green onions. I also let them sit overnight so the flavors "set" and cut them with a serrated knife to keep it from getting messy. Everyone I know loves these, including my 4 year old!!!

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2002
Insanely yummy. Perfect combination of ingredients, and prep is so easy. I make this as a side dish to chicken enchiladas, spanish rice and caesar salad. Thanks so much Ruthie for sharing!!! ***UPDATE*** I love this stuff so much I use it as the base for my Thanksgiving stuffing by omitting the sour cream, adding an extra box of Jiffy corn bread mix and baking for about an hour and a half. YUM!!!

Strawberry Cake II

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2002
I've never rated another recipe twice before but felt compelled to with this one. I just made it for my best friend's baby shower & it was a smashing success. Yes, the icing is not a thick "frosting" type but rather a wet glaze which covers all 3 layers, the sides, and spreads around the sides and bottom of the cake beautifully on a platter (just make sure you sift the powdered sugar and beat it well with electric beaters in a bowl to prevent lumps and uneven coloring). Everyone loved the appearance and ESPECIALLY the taste...if you are looking for the ultimate in a sublime moist strawberry cake, try this recipe and don't change a thing!!! **UPDATE** I made this into cupcakes using the Cool Whipped Frosting from this site instead of the strawberry icing (substituting chocolate pudding for the vanilla), it went over like gangbusters and was the first dessert to go at the my potluck! This recipe just totally rocks!!!

Artichoke Bruschetta

Reviewed: May 17, 2002
This is truly amazing stuff...my husband couldn't even wait for me to top the baguette slices with the artichoke mixture and broil them, he just started dipping the bread right into the bowl (it was just as good!) Very easy and quick to make - will definitely use this recipe again and again!!

Anytime Fruit Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2002
This is some seriously yummy stuff. I tripled the recipe for a pool party I threw over the weekend and everyone just LOVED it. I had to give it a low Kid Friendly Rating though because not even one of the 30 kids at the party would try it (though their parents were gobbling it up!) Next time I'm adding marshmallows and topping w/ toasted coconut. YUM!!!!!

Cool Whipped Frosting

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2002
This is the easiest to make, yummiest frosting recipe I have ever come across. I made it to top a birthday cake and everyone just RAVED and gobbled it all up. Will definitely use again (and again and again...) Thanks Shirley!!! **UPDATE** I used this to frost the "Strawberry Cake II" from this site (the BEST strawberry cake EVER!) substituting chocolate pudding for the vanilla for a work potluck...my co-workers couldn't get enough of cake or frosting and are still following me around and asking when I can bring in more...this frosting is just fantastic - fool-proof, versatile, not overly-sweet and positively yummy. You MUST try it!!!

Pastry Cream

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2002
YUM!!!!! This almost didn't make it onto the cake after my husband discovered how tasty it was straight out of the bowl. I sliced a white cake in half and used this cream to fill it, placed the top of the cake back on and topped with this site's "Cool Whipped Topping." Oh, yeah. Definitely a keeper. Cheers to you Kevin!

No Bake Peanut Butter Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2002
YUM! This pie is cool, creamy, peanut-buttery and absolutely decadent!!! I too used the Neufchatel cheese, low-fat cool whip and reduced fat peanut butter. I poured everything into a Keebler chocolate crust and topped it with chocolate chips. Sure glad it makes two pies! A definite keeper - thanks Megan!!!!!

Gourmet Sweet Potato Classic

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2002
***UPDATE I make this every year but have always used yams, this time I splurged and bought actual sweet potatoes instead - what an absolutely yummy difference, I'll never use yams again!!!*** In a word - YUM!!! Sweet and tasty through and through and I don't even normally eat sweet potatoes. I had a bit too much wine and dumped every pecan in the house into my pecan pie, had none left for the topping and it was STILL good. After it was done cooking I topped with mini-marshmallows (for the traditionalists in the family) and tossed it back into the oven for 12 minutes...everyone kept going back for seconds, thirds, etc...was even good heated up the next day in the microwave! A keeper - thanks Heather!!!

Winter Fruit Salad with Lemon Poppyseed Dressing

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2002
Ohhhhhh - this salad is EXCELLENT! The swiss cheese, the cashews, the fresh fruit...my mom claimed the dressing wasn't even needed, the salad was so good on it's own. I used cherry-flavored Craisins for the dried cranberries, just for a little extra flavor (like it really needed it!), and the dressing was SO easy to make in the 'ol food processor. Though my husband stated it "looked like a girly salad with all that fruit and cheese" everyone loved this, EVEN THE MEN! Thanks so much for sharing Nora - will make again and again (and again!)!! **UPDATE** This is even easier with a bottled dressing (Knott's Lemon Poppy Seed or Brianna's Homestyle Poppy seed dressing) as the secret isn't so much in the homemade dressing as it lies in the combination of ingredients. Fabulous salad, I will make every Easter and Thanksgiving!!!!!

Hot Buttered Rum Batter

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2002
This is really, REALLY good! I had wanted to give as gifts and got my Ziploc baggies all ready with instructions and everything, then realized that this batter doesn't freeze like ice cream, it's more like a thick, sticky panckake batter (presumably hence the name "Hot Buttered Rum BATTER)...I ended up keeping it for myself - poor me! Thanks for sharing Shari - will make another batch for an upcoming after Christmas party!!!

Allspice Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2002
YUM!!! I used it to top an easy spice cookie recipe I've been using for years (1 box spice cake mix, 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 cup Crisco, 1 egg-bake at 350 for 11 minutes). Took the frosted cookies to a Christmas Sing at my son's pre-school and they were gone in minutes...people said they were the best cookies on the table! Will definitely use again and again - thanks V for sharing!!!
