I'm married to an Army guy so we move around. It's great because each move puts us somewhere with new food to try! I love being outdoors - running, riding horses, walking my dog, skiing, swimming - anything!
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking just about anything. I love finding new and different things and make my husband be the guinea pig! I'm always cooking for people and taking meals to families, or for fundraisers. Any excuse to cook works for me.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving has always been a great family tradition - baking pies a few days in advance then stuffing the turkey the night before and cooking all day on Thanksgiving for a house full of family and friends. Since moving it's probably what I miss most!
My cooking triumphs
Anytime I try a new recipe and I don't screw it up is a triumph for me! Oh and making my mom's famous stromboli and finding out it's better!
My cooking tragedies
One of my husband's favorite recipes of my mom's that I still to this day cannot get right. I think she's sabotaging me!

Pecan Pie V
This pie is amazing! I made it for Thanksgiving this year and read the reviews first. I actually wound up doubling the recipe and I baked it in a 9.5" deep pie dish. I ran out of brown sugar so I just added a little more white sugar to make up the difference. I followed other reviews and baked the first 15 mins at 350 and then reduced it to 300. After 50 mins I thought it was still rather runny inside even though there was a light colored crust on top. So I took a knife and broke down the crust and mixed it back into the batter and baked another 30 mins at least, maybe longer (I just kept checking it). It turned out great and I can't wait to make it again!

Cream Cheese Jalapeno Hamburgers
These are a regular at our house. I use canned jalapenos and leave a little juice with them. It makes them easier to mix in with the cream cheese. My husband doesn't eat spicy food so I make 1/2 with bacon bits instead of jalapenos. They are excellent!!
