I am 30 years old, and have been working in the dietary department of the hospital for 3 years now. Before I started there I honestly didn't cook all that much. Since, though, I have found that I LOVE it!! I love being able to try different ideas, and my co-workers are enjoying it also!
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy trying anything new. I like variety, and love cooking with color. I love making homemade pizza at home, and Chinese is always a hit here. There's nothing better than homemade egg rolls...YUM!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My boyfriends family does dinner every Sunday, at a different person's house each week. I love being able to take a day and cook with him. We've had some of our best days then. That is, when I am not being a control freak and taking over the kitchen! LOL! :)
My cooking triumphs
I took a French cooking class, and when it was over I had 8 of my friends come over for a dinner party to try out my new skills. Every recipe I tried was new to me, but it turned out beautifully!
My cooking tragedies
There have been sooo many! The most memorable one was another dinner party I had. I decided to do a chocolate theme, with chocolate being in every dish somewhere. I did a chicken mole, and steak with a chocolate marsala sauce. Then I found a recipe for chocolate noodles and thought that would be a great idea. Not so much. They were TERRIBLE!! But my friends were great and ate them anyway...true friends there! Another happened right affter I started working at the hospital. I was cooking rice on the burner and walked off and forgot about it. There is nothing worse than the smell of burnt rice. Still haven't lived that one down.
