Slow Cooker Turkey and White Bean Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2011
I made this with 2 lbs ground turkey and more serrano pepper and seasonings. Just mushed the hominy and one can beans with a fork instead of all that trouble with the immersion blender. It came out great! Just through it all in the crockpot and let it go. Didn't pre-cook the ground turkey since it doesn't have a whole lot of grease wasn't worried about it ending up swimming in grease and it wasn't. Everyone at work loved it. Will defenitely be making this again.

Fettuccine with Sweet Pepper-Cayenne Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2011
I'm giving this 5 stars even though I made modifications because it is a great base recipe. After reading other reviews I also added portabello mushrooms and spinach. I rarely measure so as I was making the sauce I used the whole container of sour cream and probably a little more than 1/2 cup of chicken broth. I also used a generous amount of cayenne and ancho chile powder. Through in some pre-cooked shrimp and the parmesan and it was amazing! I will defenitely be making this again but will probably use a different pasta because my fettucine was sticking together badly and had to toss it a lot with olive oil to get it apart. But YUM!

Olive Chicken II

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2011
I'm lazy... I threw all of it in the crockpot and it was awesome. Made some white rice with wine and sweet onion and I just tore myself away from the kitchen eating out of the pan. I guess I should say I edited the recipe some. I used a whole bulb of garlic with the cloves just thrown in... and a lot of pepper. Will make again with more olive. Awesome crockpot recipe when I don't have time to cook.

Sausage Jalapeno Poppers

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2011
These are absolutely awesome. I originally left the bacon off because I can never get my bacon to crisp correctly no matter what I wrap (scallops, water chestnuts etc) and they were good. I had some pre-cooked bacon that I chopped up and sprinkled on top and wow... the bacon really makes a difference. Easier to me to just pre-cook the bacon crispy in the oven and then chop it up and sprinkle on top of them. Thanks for the recipe! Making some today!

Insanely Amazing Jalapeno Cheese Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2010
This is awesome! I had a jar of sliced of jalapenos already so just threw what looked like enough in it. Used a mix of shredded parmesan and mozzarella with the cheddar. Couldn't find sourdough bread so just bought a cheese bread that was basically round. Took it to work and they went crazy! Thank you!

Peppered Shrimp Alfredo

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2010
This was AWESOME!! I accidently left out the butter and just used olive oil and probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Also used entire 16oz box penne. I rarely measure and I added more cream and romano cheese to make more sauce since I was using more pasta. Add in the lazy factor and I used frozen shrimp.. just defrosted and pulled off the tails. Also used about 2 bulbs of roasted garlic.. we love garlic. My boyfriend ate it like crazy! Even ate the rest off of my plate that I couldn't finish. Thanks for this recipe! I will make this often.. it was super easy also.

Easy Broccoli Quiche

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2010
I of course made modifications.. and in my daughters words "yummy yummy". Fresh broccoli is a must but I didn't cook it first.. just made sure to cut just the tops and they were fairly small.. was too lazy to cut up onion and left out the garlic also. I used half a container of feta cheese pressed into bottom of crust (deep dish) then poured in the egg/broccoli mixture (I used cream) and topped that with a package of tomato and basil flavored feta cheese. Also seasoned it with salt, pepper and herbs de provence. YUM!

Mexican Cornbread Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2010
This is amazing!! I made modifications but still give it 5 stars. I used spicy ranch drsg, hearts of romaine (I don't like green pepper), omitted bacon bits and used 1/2 purple onion instead of green onion. I actually made 2 batches.. just one layer of each of everything in a 9x13 pan. One with black beans and dusted it with cumin, garlic powder and chili powder halfway through layering. The other was with pinto beans and I also spread it with my homemade salsa. Took them both to work and they demolished the whole pan with the salsa in it and half of the other! The next shift took care of the other half. Have had numerous requests for the recipe after just making it once. Thank you for this awesome recipe!!

Artichoke & Spinach Dip Restaurant Style

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2010
Only gave this 4 stars as without tweaking it would have been a cheesy mess. I used 3 pkgs spinach dip and 1 whole pkg of cream cheese. Also used more garlic and roasted the garlic first. Got raves from everyone at work and when I told one person how I made it she said hers probably didn't come out as good because it didn't have enough spinach. I'm pretty sure the alfredo sauce I used was also a 15oz jar and it was Bertolli brand from reading some other reviews. I've already made this several times and it is totally awesome.

Roasted Asparagus with Herbes de Provence

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2010
Loved it.. used to just steam asparagus in a microwave bag and this way is amazing. I couldn't stop eating it. Was really easy by shaking them in a gallon ziplock bag with the olive oil and seasonings.

Fresh Peach Cobbler II

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2008
The filling was great. Tossed it with a little flour per previous suggestions. Also sprinkled extra sugar, brown sugar and cinnamon on topping but it just wasn't very good in general. Am trying to find some kind of streusel cobbler topping...none of the batter ones I've made have been very good. oh...used 8 fresh peaches and it made a big 9x13 pan..glad I didn't double the batter.

Roasted Garlic

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2008
This is much more realistic than the other roasted garlic recipe I first used from this site. Did 2 hours at 300 degrees. Next time I will use a teensy bit of salt on top as well. I couldn't stop eating it when it came out of the oven!

Roasted Garlic

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2008
I give it 2 stars because the cooking time is WAY OFF. It took at least 3 hours for the garlic to finally roast. It was a ridiculous amount of time. I finally just took to poking it with a fork every hour.

Spaghetti Carbonara II

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2008
I also made some modifications based on others reviews. I used 5 eggs, 3/4 cup parmesan cheese and 3/4 cup room temperature cream, mixed all that together and then poured it on top of the pasta and mixed it well. I used a little more bacon as well and used a sweet onion and carmelized it and the minced garlic in the bacon fat. My son can't stand onion and he said the onion in this was good. I didn't have any olive oil so I sprayed the pasta with pam and tossed it to keep it from sticking...gave it a buttery taste. I will def make this again but maybe throw in some chopped tomato, sliced mushrooms and use fresh shredded parmesan instead. Maybe some asiago as well for a little different taste.

Very Best Blueberry Cobbler!

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2008
Also did 5 cups blueberries and used splenda instead of sugar. Forgot the lemon juice and vanilla accidently but the kids still loved it. I wasn't crazy about the topping was like a big ole pancake and the extra blueberries are a must...their wouldn't be anywhere near enough using the amount called for in the recipe. Will still look for a recipe with a better topping though.

Mom's Baked Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2008
I didn't even get a chance to bake it! Did 2 cans of cheese soup and 2 cups of shredded colby/cheddar blend and then tasted it to see if it needed more salt/pepper and it was good just like that! Leftover mac and cheese is also great to make a quickie tuna salad...just add tuna and mayo.
