About this Cook
I'm a registered nurse and work 7p-a so I don't get the chance to cook as often as I'd like. I have 3 teenagers at home (17, 18 and 19!) so they are my guinea pigs.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Mom is Italian and is an awesome cook (also a Master Chef). She can pull anything out of the fridge and make it into a casserole!
My cooking tragedies
OMG...this horrible african soup recipe I made. It had veggies and peanut butter in it..just awful.

Slow Cooker Turkey and White Bean Chili
I made this with 2 lbs ground turkey and more serrano pepper and seasonings. Just mushed the hominy and one can beans with a fork instead of all that trouble with the immersion blender. It came out great! Just through it all in the crockpot and let it go. Didn't pre-cook the ground turkey since it doesn't have a whole lot of grease wasn't worried about it ending up swimming in grease and it wasn't. Everyone at work loved it. Will defenitely be making this again.

Fettuccine with Sweet Pepper-Cayenne Sauce
I'm giving this 5 stars even though I made modifications because it is a great base recipe. After reading other reviews I also added portabello mushrooms and spinach. I rarely measure so as I was making the sauce I used the whole container of sour cream and probably a little more than 1/2 cup of chicken broth. I also used a generous amount of cayenne and ancho chile powder. Through in some pre-cooked shrimp and the parmesan and it was amazing! I will defenitely be making this again but will probably use a different pasta because my fettucine was sticking together badly and had to toss it a lot with olive oil to get it apart. But YUM!

Olive Chicken II
I'm lazy... I threw all of it in the crockpot and it was awesome. Made some white rice with wine and sweet onion and I just tore myself away from the kitchen eating out of the pan. I guess I should say I edited the recipe some. I used a whole bulb of garlic with the cloves just thrown in... and a lot of pepper. Will make again with more olive. Awesome crockpot recipe when I don't have time to cook.
