Smooth Sweet Tea

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2013
Simple recipe for delicious iced tea. Everyone has their own preference when it comes to the sweetness, so just adjust the sugar to your tastes. I prefer 1/2 cup.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2013
We used white chocolate chips and they did not last long. Hubby requested I never make them again because he couldn't control himself!

Kettle Corn

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2012
I'll start out by admitting I've never really liked kettle corn. And then I tried this recipe. OMG, this was so amazing! I followed the 3 kernel test and used white sugar. I can't believe how crispy and yummy this was. I'm excited to try brown sugar next time for more of a caramel taste.

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2012
These are amazing! I followed the recipe exactly except I substituted allspice for cloves since I was out. My hubby loved these and he doesn't usually like "pumpkin-y" recipes. The icing is delicious and could be used on lots of other goodies. Thanks, Gina!

Delicious Egg Salad for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2012
This is an amazing recipe for egg salad. I'm a picky eater, so simpler is usually better for me. It was the perfect amount of everything. I can see how it could be a little bland if you use regular mayo, but I used Miracle Whip and didn't have that problem at all. I'm so excited about this recipe! I've been looking for a go-to egg salad recipe for a long time.

Eggplant Sandwiches

Reviewed: May 5, 2012
I prefer this without the basil, it's just a little too overpowering. I've tried the eggplant many different ways (grilled, baked, peeled, etc) and the best way I've found is to lightly coat in flour and fry. It gives the eggplant more of a crisp instead of staying like a soggy mess on the bun. The flavors of this come together nicely and this is one of our favorite meatless meals.

French Toast I

Reviewed: May 5, 2012
The taste was really bland and the middle of my thickest pieces were still extremely soggy. The batter needs something for a little more flavor and definitely some flour. Through this mix out after making a few pieces.

Crispy Barbequed Tofu Slices

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2012
I'm new to tofu and still am up in the air about it. This was a nice recipe, but even after all the draining, smushing, frying, and broiling, only the corners of these were "crispy." It was very time consuming and I didn't feel like there was much to show for it after. The taste really just depends on your choice of bbq sauce, so that wasn't an issue, but we were trying these mostly for the promised crispy texture.

Quinoa Side Dish

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2012
I did not care for this recipe. I followed the recipe to a 't' and this was flavorless. All I could really taste was the broth which was not good standing just as it was. Disappointed. I'll try not to take it out on the quinoa.

Onion Soup Pork Chops

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2011
Really blah. Followed directions exactly. Very diluted flavor, if you can call it "flavor". I'm a big fan of Onion Soup mix and all it can do in the kitchen, but this was not good.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2011
Not bad. I also didn't have enough bananas, so I added a 1/4 cup of applesauce to help keep the bread moist. It was very moist, but dense. I also sprinkled some nuts on top. My only complaint is that 60 minutes was too long for my oven. I took it out a few minutes before that and the bread was very dark brown. I'd recommend checking at 45 minutes and every 5 minutes after that to avoid over cooking.

Fluffy French Toast

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2010
These did not turn out well at all. They were way too soggy and I couldn't get them to cook all the way through so the bread was fluffy. Taste was fine, but they definitely weren't fluffy.

Chewy Coconut Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2010
I was so disappointed with these! They turned out moist alright, mostly because they didn't cook all the way through. The outer edges were edible, although quite crunchy, but the middle was a gooey mess. I did double the coconut, like other reviews suggested. I could have cooked these even longer, but I would have had to sacrifice the edges for the middle and it just wasn't pretty.

Favorite Barbecue Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2010
Holy cow, this chicken is AMAZING! I've tried quite a few bbq chicken recipes from this site and this is the first that really blew my tastebuds away. My bf, who really isn't a fan of bbq chicken but is a good sport and eats it when I make it anyway, took one bite of this chicken and said, "We're having this one again, right?" I didn't change a thing and followed the recipe exactly. It will now be the ONLY bbq sauce we use in our house. Thanks so much Amanda!

Pecan Pie V

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2010
This pie was, in a word, delicious! I'd never had pecan pie before, but all my guests had and they said this was the best pecan pie ever. I followed the directions exactly and it turned out wonderful. I guess it's a good sign when you go back the next day for another piece and it's already all gone!

Oven Barbecued Chicken

Reviewed: May 16, 2010
I'm a picky eater and found this to be very good. I didn't have the mustard on hand, so I did without. I didn't really like the onions in the mix, but that may just be because I didn't chop them up small enough for my tastes. My boyfriend liked this though, so I'll probably be making it again.

Chicken and Red Wine Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2010
Overall, this was surprisingly yummy. I had some trouble getting the sauce to thicken up, so I added a teeny bit of cornstarch and then it congealed incredibly quickly and had a jelly-like consistency. The flavor was a perfect combination with the wine and brown sugar, but the sugar definitely needs to be decreased. I used only 1/4 cup and that was still very sweet! Definitely a good dish worth playing around with.

Marinated Grilled Shrimp

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2010
HOLY FREAKING MOLEY! These were absolutely AMAZING! The marinade for these shrimp is unbelievably delicious. It didn't really seem that exciting when I mixed it up, but somehow it gives this wonderful flavor with a bit of a kick. We also skewered some fresh veggies and brushed the marinade over them and the shrimp while grilling and they tasted just as good. This is a perfect recipe, as is, which is a really rare find! Thanks so much for sharing!

Cheesy Zucchini Bites

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2010
I am really bummed out about these. I don't understand how the rating is so high! I love zucchini, tomatoes, and Parmesan cheese, so I thought I'd love these. The blue cheese was too bitter tasting a cheese to use for these, I think. The basil was also pretty strong. In some bites that's all I could taste and it was just overwhelming. Won't be trying these again.

Peanut Butter Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2010
Wonderful cookies! I love the light and fluffy consistency. Very moist as well. I used 100% Whole Wheat Flour instead of white. I also thought they were incredibly peanut-buttery, so I decreased the pb to 3/4 cup. Big mistake! A lot of the pb flavor bakes out, so make sure you include at least a cup. Otherwise these were so yummy. Next time I might leave out the pb all together and add some cinnamon instead. Thanks so much for sharing!
