Sour Cream Chocolate Frosting

Reviewed: May 5, 2011
Frosting turned out well. I added 2 cups of powdered sugar and it worked for my tastes, not too sweet but not too tangy.

Baked Potato Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2010
I was so excited to try this recipe only to be totally disappointed by the results. Soup by itself has zero flavor. I added a lot of shredded cheese and bacon to my bowl and then it was palatable.

Chicken and Biscuit Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2009
I loved the fact that this didn't call for canned "cream of" soup! I used this recipe as the starting point and made some changes for my personal tastes: omitted onions, added half and half for 1/4 of the liquid, added half the amount of basil to the biscuit mix, added potatoes, corn and snap peas, omitted the canned peas. Next time I will omit the basil from the biscuit mix entirely, it was just way to "basily" for me.

Orange-Ginger Tofu Triangles

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2009
I was so excited to try this but then let down when it was finished. All I could taste was the soy sauce, such a disappointment.

Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2009
This was really good! I made a few changes based on things I wanted to use up. I don't like onions so I omitted them and used a couple of cloves of garlic. I had a container of cottage cheese with chives that I bought by mistake so I put it into the blender with a little milk to sub for the sour cream. Once the noodles were cooked I mixed them with the cottage cheese. I put a layer of sauce down first in the pan, then the coated noodles, a layer of the provolone cheese, a sprinkling of fresh basil, then more sauce, noodles, sauce and the shredded cheese layer. This made an almost overflowing 9X13" glass pan. It ended up bubbling over in my oven, next time I will put the pan on a cookie sheet to catch the overflow. A great recipe!

Pumpkin Spice Cake with Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2009
Heavenly! Only change I made was to double the spices. I made these as cupcakes (ended up with 18) and was a bit concerned because the batter was so dense but they turned out perfectly! Frosted with Cream Cheese Frosting II and added a bit of cinnamon to the frosting.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough + Cupcake = The BEST Cupcake. Ever.

Reviewed: May 25, 2009
I've been dying to try this recipe and finally did today - oh my gosh, it's fantastic! I used a triple chocolate fudge cake mix and store bought peanut butter cookie dough. I frosted them with the fluffy peanut butter frosting from this site and wow, amazing!

Fluffy Peanut Butter Frosting

Reviewed: May 25, 2009
Super yummy! As other reviewer have said, be sure to have everything at room temp, quality of peanut butter is also a must, do not skimp and use low-quality peanut butter.

Skillet Bow Tie Lasagna

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2009
This turned out better than I thought it would. I added additional water, fresh basil, accidentally bought tomato paste that had Italian seasonings in it so I used that, and a couple of shakes of Mrs. Dash Italian seasonings. Also sprinkled in mozzarella cheese when I added the cheese part.

Fried Rice Restaurant Style

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2009
I *loosely* used this as my recipe as I tried a different fried rice recipe and it didn't turn out so great. I think the key ingredient is the sesame oil, definitely added the missing flavor. I sauteed a bunch of veggies - carrots, zucchini, snow peas - and some left over cooked chicken in the sesame oil then added cooked rice that was refrigerated, scrambled egg that I cooked in a separate pan that I had cut into strips and drizzled in soy sauce.

Pesto Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2009
Pesto turned out great, I followed the suggestion of other posters and toasted the walnuts (spread 1/2 c at a time on a microwave safe dish and microwaved for 1 minute, then stirred, then microwaved for 1 minute more). Also added a pinch of nutmeg and probably doubled the garlic but the cloves I was using were small. This is a keeper for sure!

Southwestern Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2009
This is a fantastic pasta salad! Only changes I made were adding 1/2 cup + of freshly squeezed lime juice (juice of 2 limes) and decreased the chili powder to 4 teaspoons as I was afraid it would be too spicy but it wasn't. Prepared the day ahead so flavors could marinate - delicious!

Lasagna Roll Ups

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
These are really good and pretty easy to make. I halve the recipe but still use a full 28 oz jar of pasta sauce. I subbed cottage cheese for the ricotta and found that I needed to cook the noodles until they were completely done - al dente ended up too crunchy for my tastes. Leftovers freeze and reheat really well.

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
I love this recipe! I added a 28 oz can of diced tomatoes with the juice and also add an extra cup of chicken broth to the soup. I've made it with red and green enchilada sauce and definiately prefer the green. I use the dark meat of a whole chicken (shredded) that I cook in my crock pot using lime, cilantro and garlic so the meat brings a nice Mexican flavor to the soup. Yum, definately a keeper!

Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2008
This was a hit at my holiday party however next time when I make it I probably will halve the recipe, the ball was pretty big! I followed other people's tips and refrigerated it overnight in a metal bowl, made with real butter and served with chocolate graham crackers.

Peanut Butter Cup Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2008
These are fantastic cookies! I had read thru the comments people left and their tips definitely helped. I didn't have a cookie scoop so I used two teaspoons of dough rolled into a ball to make each cookie. Baked for 8 minutes, pressed a frozen peanut butter cup into each cookie then put the pan in the fridge for about 15 minutes to set. Delicious!
