I have been cooking since I was 8 years old. My family is from Louisiana and Texas, so cooking spicy is in my blood. Cajun, and Tex-Mex meals were our favorites. Then I married my wonderful hubby...from the bland Mid-west. His idea of a exotic dinner was beef and noodles. So I'm trying to convert the dear man.

My favorite family cooking traditions
Cooking with my mom and 2 sisters, whatever it might be. Usually some thing sweet or spicy. My mom made sure we knew how to make pie crusts before we left home.
My cooking triumphs
Slowly getting my Indiana husband to try and enjoy new things that he never thought he would like! His mother is amazed he eats such a variety of dishes now.
My cooking tragedies
The first cake I made at 9 yrs old...I used 3 Tablespoons of soda instead of teaspoons..It tasted like salt. Once I made a carrot cake I made for a friend's birthday....the oil was bad, and I had to remake the whole thing. But it sure did look good!
