I love to eat! I spend my days perusing food blogs, recipe websites, and experimenting in the kitchen. I love/admire Anthony Bourdain because I think he has the ULTIMATE DREAM JOB OF MINE!
My favorite things to cook
Tonkatsu (Japanese pork cutlets), spaghetti bolognese, hot wings, Mediterranean fries, fried rice, enchiladas, salami & butter sandwiches, Hungarian goulash, roast chicken and potatoes, etc.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I don't really have family traditions, per se but my family did own a Japanese restaurant in San Francisco many years ago. My grandmother was the cook and she made everything from scratch (from the salad dressing to the teriyaki sauce and sushi). Everything she made was SO DELICIOUS. I used to spend my summers in the back of the kitchen with my coloring books and a daily dose of chicken teriyaki and rice bowls. My family apparently thought that anything else would be too "exotic" for a seven year old!
My cooking triumphs
I have perfected (in my mind anyway lol) hot and spicy buffalo wings. I am also very proud of my chicken enchiladas. Even my Latino friends tell me that it tastes "authentic" and that you never would've thought some Asian girl made them!
My cooking tragedies
Although i can make wings, I can never get fried chicken right! It's either undercookedon the inside or too burnt outside. Oh, and I tried making key lime pie once... I won't be trying aian any time soon.
