Chewiest Brownies

Very good, and very rich. These brownies have a dark chocolate taste, and go well with french vanilla ice cream.

Italian Wedding Soup I

Very yummy! I brought it to a pot luck at work. I cooked it the night before, undercooking it slightly. Then I just turned it on high in my crock pot in my office letting it simmer all morning. By lunch it was perfect!

Curried Chicken with Mango Rice

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2008
Easy and very good. The rice had great flavour, but could use the addition of some veggies to it to make it a complete meal. Chicken was very moist!

Anna's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: May 28, 2008
Wonderful, Wonderful, WONDERFUL! I used white chocolate and milk chocolate chips for lots of flavour. These cookies need to be baked until they are golden to dark brown so that they stay together as they flatten out quite a bit.

Peanut Butter Bars II

Reviewed: May 27, 2008
Amazing! I omitted the walnuts (not a big nuts in baked goods fan) and jammed in as many peanut butter cups as possible. The first time I cooked it for the minimum reccomended time, and the centre was not completely cooked. Since then I have cooked it for an extra 5 minutes until it is golden brown.

Apple Crisp IV

Reviewed: May 27, 2008
If you are looking for a moist crisp, this is a great recipe. I have used it with various fruit fillings. My favorite is a pint of blueberries, 3 cups sliced peaches, 2 tbsp flour, and 2 tbsp sugar mixed together. A little extra baking time doesn't hurt when making this recipe to brown the top more. I usually bake for an extra 5 minutes and then turn the oven off and let it sit.

Chocolate Toffee Crunch Bars

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2008
Very good. I omitted the walnuts and there was still plenty of crunch. The graham cracker base was a bit crumbly, and next time I will add a bit more butter to ensure that it is solid. I also would consider doubling the amount of butter/sugar filling to add more toffee flavour. the recipe was great without these additions, but it is also one that will be fun to play around with.

White Cheese Chicken Lasagna

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2008
This recipe was very rich, but very yummy. I took other's advice and used broccolli florets instead of spinch. I also used fresh basil instead of the dried, and added flat leaf parsley to the sauce and top to add some more flavour. Will definitly make this again!

Loved this as a nice side dish. I made a balsamic vinigrette for it which worked nicely to give it a very bold flavour.

Berry Tiramisu Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2008
This was a nice light dessert. I used frozen berries, being that March is not the ideal time to find locally grown fresh ones, which was fine, but not ideal. I ended up using about 7 cups of berries, as I though 4 was not enough. The more berries with this the better! The cake held up really well. I made this dessert the day before serving, and the cake was still fresh 24 hours later and not at all soggy.

Gorgonzola-Garlic Dip

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2008
While I loved the flavour of the gorgonzola and the garlic it was very overpowering! I ended up mixing about a third of the dip with a cup of cream cheese to tone it down a notch, and it was still potent. I will try these flavours together again but with only 1 clove of garlic, and equal parts cheese mixed with cream cheese and maybe some sour cream.

Feta Artichoke Dip

Great recipe. It was a hit at Easter dinner. I only added one garlic clove, in order to perserve everyone's breath while visiting. The dip still had plenty of flavour without it!

Spicy Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2008
This is a great receipe. The sugars come out of the potatoes and mix with the brown sugar to caramelize the potatoes nicely. I cooked this dish amidst home renovations with all my spices tucked away, so I used just an all in one chilli spice in place of the chilli powder and cayenne pepper. I cooked them at 375 on convection bake and they only took about 20 minutes. A very yummy side!

Chicken Pot Pie IX

This recipe was very good! The sauce adds a lot of flavour, so I made an extra half of the sauce to make it extra savoury. The more filling you can shove in the crust the better!

Onion Rings

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2008
Great recipe. I cooked them in a deep fryer. In order to prevent them from sticking together, I only fried about 3 or 4 at a time. Also, if you set them into the deep fryer basket and then lower it into the oil, the rings will stick to the basket and make a bit of a mess. I dropped them into the oil with the basket down, and once they were fried used the basket to pull them out.
