Cooking is my form of therapy and creative outlet. There is nothing better than spending a day in the kitchen filling the house with wonderful smells.
My favorite things to cook
You name it, I'll bake it. Cookies, pies, dessert bars, breads and cakes are by far my favorite. Don't get me wrong, I like to cook too but I'm not as seasoned in this department. I'm working on it though....meat is my weakest spot.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Keep it simple. Wise words from my southern grandmother. The fewer the ingredients the better off you'll be. Butter, salt and pepper can carry a dish. And always use butter and "real" ingredients.
My cooking triumphs
A raspberry chocolate cake and a carrot cake with spelt flour are two of my favorites. I think I have the baking thing down and now I'm hoping to master the gluten free world.
My cooking tragedies
Its really terrible but I seem to always burn rice. How this is possible, I'm not quite sure... And as a child I tried to make custard and mistook the salt for the sugar... it still looked and smelled amazing though!
