Lemon Garlic Tilapia

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2010
I made this tonight using olive oil instead of butter, and I only had 3 tilapia fillets. Still, my husband and I both thought it had very little flavor (and I went heavy on the garlic). Not a keeper.

Zesty White Wine Green Beans

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2010
I used pepper, no salt. I used 3/4 lb fresh, and about 3/4 cup white wine (moscat I think). I also spritzed some lemon on at the end, as other reviewers suggested. They were okay. The guests enjoyed them, my husband and I were so-so and feel like we like some other recipes on this site better.

Spicy Garlic Lime Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2010
this was a little disappointing... nothing special, just some chicken. it also took an extra 5-7 minutes than suggested. wouldn't make again.

Spinach Muenster Quiche

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2010
I used 3 eggs, a 6oz bag of fresh spinach that I sauted and drained, and no salt, but otherwise followed directions. Wasn't done at 35, so put it back in for 10 minutes. It was barely set, next time I'd put it in longer anyway. It was great tho, both my husband and I enjoyed it greatly.

Laura's Unbelievable Chicken and Pasta

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2010
I cubed the chicken instead of making it strips. I only had about 8 oz spinach, and I left out the tomatoes because my husband doesn't care for them. Added a tablespoon of minced garlic, a tablespoon of ground black pepper, and a packet of Italian dressing mix like another rater suggested. Turned out pretty good. keeping the recipe and planning to make again... might add red pepper flakes or something to get more flavor out of it.

Parmesan Spinach Balls

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2010
I cut the recipe in half. But I still only had about 8 oz of spinach and a hair under 1/2 c parmesan cheese. I don't think mine really browned, but I took them out after 17 minutes. They were done and tasty. rather salty tho, and I didn't add any salt at all. would consider making them again, but probably not, since the draining of the spinach frustrates me.

Superfast Asparagus

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2010
I used Tony Chachere's Creole Seasoning, and just sprinkled some on, didn't bother measuring out a teaspoon. was a great way to cook up a fast vegetable, and asparagus is popular in our house so will make it that was again.

Turkey Wild Rice Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2010
used unsalted butter instead of margarine. used a mixture of 1 cup 1% milk and 1 cup heavy whipping cream instead of half-and-half. used 2/3 cup green onions. used just under a cup of wild rice. used 1/2 cup flour instead of 3/4. used 1/4 tsp pepper instead of 1/8 tsp. added about 8 chopped baby carrots in with the onions and rice at the beginning. turned out delicious; my husband said it was the best soup I've made. next time would add more pepper (or perhaps the wild rice seasoning mix).

Slow Cooker Thanksgiving Turkey

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2010
I used a 7.5 pound bone-in breast, it was still done in about 7 hours. I also sliced an onion and added it in the beginning, and did 7 strips of bacon instead of 5. About halfway through cook time I added a can of turkey broth because it was looking a little dry. It was fantastic, definitely one of the better turkeys I've had. If I do a small Thanksgiving next year, I might reuse this recipe for that occasion.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2010
this was the first banana bread I made, but not the first I've eaten. I was surprised how many bananas it took to hit 2 1/3 cups. I only had 5, so had to supplement (thanks other users for suggestions on that!). I used light brown sugar and baked for 65 minutes. turned out okay, I guess. made it for a potluck, every single person complimented it. I guess I was just expecting more flavor from other reviews.

Creamy Cheesy Scrambled Eggs with Basil

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2010
made this on a whim this morning. followed recipe exactly, except substituted 1/2 tbsp dried minced basil leaves instead of fresh. I thought it was okay, nothing I'd make for company. The mozzarella flavor came through nicely. My husband thought the basil was heavy. He would try it again with less basil.

Amaretto Divine

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2009
I couldn't not give this five stars. I made it for my husband's birthday (amaretto is his favorite). I used International Delights Liquid non-dairy amaretto flavor (you can go on their website and find out which stores carry it... I had to go across town), Disaronno amaretto, and cool whip lite. I omitted nuts and heath bars. As per others' suggestions, I put wax paper down in my pans and the cakes came out perfectly (about 21-22 minutes for me). I used two Hershey's bars, but struggled to get all of the drizzle on there, there was so much!! I also used two 8oz tubs of cool whip... one and a half would have been fine (I frosted sides too). Everyone thought I bought it from a bakery when they looked at it, and were in love with the flavor. Worked out so well!!! Update: I've been using this recipe for 4 years now, as cakes and cupcakes, changing out various liqueurs, creamers, and puddings. I just tried Kahlua Cinnamon Spice with Cinnamon Vanilla creamer, which resulted in a little drier of a cake than I'd have hoped for - maybe I should have changed the yellow cake base this time.

Simple Time Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2009
I tried mixing the mayo and butter like others have suggested and that was kinda messy. I increased the garlic powder a little (and omitted the salt), and that flavor came out great. As I was putting the cheese on, there was just tons there... used 3/4 cup and stopped. left the dish very oily between the ingredients anyway. DH and both liked it okay, not a bad flavor but not our favorite.

Easy Deviled Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2009
I halved the recipe, but still used 2 T brown spicy mustard. I needed to crush the stuffing a bit. I did the 350 degrees with 30 minutes covered, 15 uncovered (and it was still a little dry). I liked it okay, husband didn't really care for it. The mustard flavor was good, especially with the stuffing. But it didn't seem to go with chicken. Probably won't make it again, since we already have leftovers I'll have to sneak onto the plates this week.

Cherry Pie II

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2009
this turned out remarkably well. Easily the best fruit pie I've made yet! My husband even said it was Thanksgiving-quality, and that means a lot to me, if not to you as well. I modified the flour to 1/4 cup and used Rainier cherries instead of sour cherries. I did have to mash about half of them to get enough juice to mix with the dry ingredients. I used the 9" frozen Pillsbury crust, since they're sold in packages of two.

Seared Tuna with Wasabi-Butter Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2009
I would give it a 1, but husband LOVED it, so I'll compromise with a 3. We halved the butter, but followed everything else exactly. Could have done with less cilantro. Be aware that this is VERY wasabi-y. It was a strange taste to me to have wasabi have the greasy texture of butter.

Deep Fried Spinach

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2009
gave this a try the other night, along with "Seared Tuna with Wasabi-Butter Sauce" on this site. It was different, but neither of us really cared for it. Will not be making again.

Blackened Tuna

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2009
our tuna steaks were almost 2 inches thick, and 90 seconds per side was too long. definitely will only put them on 45 seconds or so per side next time. I used Tony Chachere's Cajun Seasoning.

Teena's Spicy Pesto Chicken and Pasta

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2008
three people I made it for loved it and wouldn't change a thing. I, on the other hand, didn't think it was flavorful enough. way too bland for my tastes... I think more chili paste and maybe 1 tbsp less oil would be good for the next try.
