About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
Anything new! I love trying new things! I started with baking, now I cook almost anything. I love baking and decorating personalized cakes for my friends and family. I love making homemade pizzas and pastas, starting with the dough and using vegetables from my garden for the sauce and toppings. I love making curries, especially now that I've made my own curry pastes and froze them in ice cube trays for easy, anytime use.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cooking is mine and my mom's bonding time. Anything from homemade pasta or perogies, and homemade sausage. The first thing we made together was spaghetti, and we still get together to this day with crates of farm fresh tomoatoes to make dozens of jars of bologene sauce with our homemade sausage.
My cooking tragedies
My first and only (so far) gluten and dairy free cake was a complete disaster! It was a messy mountain of cake dough. I tried to cover it with a nice ganache type thing and fresh fruit. After the car ride to the birthday girl's house, everything had mixed together into one mound of messy, cakey, gooey-ness.

Buckeye Balls II
I like a many others found that the mixture ended up being very crumbly and difficult to roll and dip. Freezing them before dipping them in chocolate really helped! I also wished that there was more of the peanut butter flavor. Maybe I should have used less sugar....

Creamy Saffron Shrimp with Gnocchi and Caramelized Onion
Just made this recipe! It was delicious! Thank you! I used prawns instead of shrimp, but that probably didn't make that much of a difference. I took the advice of other reviewers and used less paprika, but found that it could have used more saffron.
