Rhubarb Strawberry Jam

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2012
My go-to recipe and everyone RAVES about my jam. LOVE that there isn't any actual strawberries. You'd never know, and it saves a fortune over buying fresh berries. THANK YOU so much for sharing. I make 60 or more jars a year and always run out!

Sloppy Joes II

YUMMY and so easy! The taste was delicious, and my kids devoured it! Only change was I left out the bell pepper because my kids don't like green pepper. Next time I'll sub red bell pepper. Going into my regular rotation. LOVED that it goes in the crockpot.

My Best Clam Chowder

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2012
Wow! Easy, and delicious! Was done and ready in about 30 minutes! I love that this recipe doesn't use canned soup as a base. I did alter by using regular 2% milk instead of 1/2 and 1/2 (because that is what we use) and a bit of garlic powder, and it was still creamy and thick. Will make this a part of our regular family menu. THANK YOU for sharing!

Easy Biscuits

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2011
These came out perfect! The recipe is missing a couple of points.......cut the shortening into the flour first, then add the milk. DON'T OVERWORK the dough! 2-3 gentle kneads is all you need, or your biscuits will be hockey pucks! I did add a pinch of salt and a bit of sugar but otherwise stuck to the recipe. Mine rose up high, were light and flaky. Perfect recipe to add chopped chives and crumbled bacon. YUM! Definately a keeper

Ultimate Turkey Brine

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2009
Hands down the BEST and easiest brine recipe out there. As others posted.......DON'T sub the salt, use kosher or canning salt only. My 25'b turkey won't fit in the fridge during the brining, so I put it in a heavy duty trash bag in our coleman. Add the brine, and close the bag. Top with 2 bags of ice. You can also play with this recipe by adding sliced oranges, you favorite herbs like rosemary, etc. And, I've used a 'prebased' bird on several occasions, and its never too salty. Just be sure to rinse well in cold water (especially inside the cavity) and pat dry.

Spiced Pumpkin Fudge

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2009
Sorry, but this just didn't taste 'pumpkiny' enough for me. I think if I could somehow work more pumpkin into the recipe it would be better. Although it did set up really nicely, and cut into nice squares.

Christmas Cookies in a Jar

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2009
These are delicious, and really do make the nicest 'gift in a jar'. We call them "Cranberries in the Snow". Usually you don't get a beautiful layered jar AND a good taking cookie too, but this one delivres on both!

Felix K.'s 'Don't even try to say these aren't the best you've ever eaten, because they are' Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2009
I didn't think these were that fantastic. I made them exactly as the recipe stated, and they took forever to bake, seemed dry, and wer sickenly sweet. The dough was really dry too, and while they didn't taste bad, they just aren't worth raving over. I made a second batch, reduced the brown sugar to 1 1/2 C. and baked for 14 minutes at 325 and they came out much better. I think the 300 degree baking time is way too low, and dried out the cookie due to the extended baking time needed at such a low temp.

Cornbread Salad I

As far as 'salads' go, this is the best I've ever had! My best friend made it for her daughters birthday over the weekend and it disappeared! I'll be making this for my own family very soon!

Jambalaya Salad

Reviewed: May 20, 2007
This salad is awesome! As others suggested, I used fresh shrimp, kielbasa, and substituted 1/2 t. Zatarans Cajun Seasoning for the salt. I also used red pepper instead of green, and added green onion and chopped baby carrot for color. We'll be having this a lot more!

Old-Fashioned Rice Pudding I

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2006
This is easy and delicious! I made as directed, only I added some cinnamon and used golden raisins. It was done after 1 hour, 20 minutes, so keep your eye on it after about 1 hour. More like a custard and my kids LOVE it! Its a keeper!
