Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2014
Delicious! I always use 1/2 white and 1/2 brown sugar. Water is not needed on the apple mixture unless you prefer your crisp less dense. The topping is delicious. I make 1.5 of the topping. Sometimes I add a cup of mini caramels that you can usually find in the fall at your market.

Cool Whipped Frosting

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2014
I made this w real whipped cream for a lemon cake and I found this to be tasty, but very runny. Maybe i will use less milk next time. Or maybe it was the lemon juice that I added vs the vanilla extract? I would love some advice.

Fantastic recipe! Definitely use the smaller biscuits if available or the dough will not cook thoroughly on the bottom.

Delicious. The fresh lemon zest makes it special. Definitely cook on parchment paper, otherwise the bottom can burn easily!

Easy Apple Crisp

Excellent! Followed a few suggestions: used the spiced cake mix w 2 pkgs of plain breakfast oatmeal, apple cider instead of water dash of nutmeg. Added the 4 TBL of caramel sauce too. Nice crunchy top.

This cake is so light and good -even better left over. Make sure if using fresh strawberries that the are completely dried after washing . I made the mistake the second time and it was too loose, but still delicious!

Jewish Apple Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2011
Yum! Used apple cider vs. OJ as recommended. Glazed after it cooled & removed fr the bundt pan. Will probably use loaf pans next time & glaze while hot. This is an excellent/hardy cake. Very nice for brunch or dessert!

Hermits I

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2011
Definitely a good start to an old fashion hermit like my Nana's. I felt it needed more spices and definitely more molasses and I think I will try brown sugar vs. white next time to get that spicey bite. I omitted the nuts due to an allergy and more than doubled the raisins. I also rolled them in a coarse sugar and they turned out beautiful. Cooked perfectly @ 14 min. Don't leave them on the pan too long or the will break/crack.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2011
Wow! Made this with a few revisions/additions for 12 servings: Omit the water with 4 cans chicken broth, 1 can low-fat cream of chicken soup, sauted 1/2 chopped onion, chopped ham steak or left over ham - original recipe does not call for enough ham - this could easily take 2 cups of diced ham, 1 cup chopped carrots. I also added 6 pieces of crumbled bacon and Wow! Top w/ a little shredded cheddar. This soup is even more incredible the next day!

Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2010
Sorry, but not worth the hype if you are expecting a cheesy version. Although easy preparation, I feel as though the cheese did not melt enough and the consistency was weird. I'm going to stick with a rue based mac n cheese.

Cha Cha's White Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2010
Delicious - Cut out the jalepenos. Used 3/4 of can diced chiles and half the cumin & cayenne pepper.n Mashed 1 of the 3 cans of beans and substituted a can of broth for a can of cr. chicken soup. After onion, etc was sauted, I threw everything in the crock pot on high including the uncooked chicken breasts for 3.5 hours. Took the chicken out - shredded it and out it back in the crock pot for 1/2 hour. Perfection!

Blueberry Crumb Bars

Unfortunately we found this to be very dry & bland. I think adding 1/2 cup and a full tsp. of cinnamon would help.
