I used chopped sticks instead which gave a lot better support while dipping and eating. I also put apples in boiling water for 30 seconds and then dried them with a paper towel before dipping in caramel which helps to take the layer of wax off the apples to help the caramel stick better. The recipe is fast and easy, really tasty and makes Halloween even sweeter than it already is!
