Caramelized Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2009
I am really quite surprised that this recipe has such a high rating. I found it disappointing. My daughter could not even eat it. I followed the recipe to a "t" and had no problem getting the sauce to thicken, so I guess I would say it "turned out" right, we just did not care for the taste. I am still very confused as to why so many people gave a good rating, usually I can count of the ratings at this site regarding recipes but this one has thrown me for a loop. I really wish I could get my money back for the ingredients!

Pennsylvania Dutch Corn Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2005
I decided to try this because my husband is "Pennsylvania Dutch" and thought he might like to try it. I LOVED IT, he HATED it and refused to eat it. I made it as a "side" dish" and I ended up giving HIM the rest of my dinner and I ate his serving of the pie, along with my childrens servings! I still can't figure out WHY everyone at the table balked at it!! I found it fantastic and actually had to FORCE myself to quit eating it because it just tasted so darn good! Next time I make this (and I guess I would be making it for myself only) I plan on adding the chicken and just having that as a meal! I gave this a five star rating, but I think this is one of those recipes that people will either LOVE... or HATE.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2005
THIS has just become one of my FAVORITE banana bread recipes! I made it last night and even added about a third cup MORE of banana.... it turned out GREAT. Even my "picky eater twelve year old" said that it was "pretty good".... A FANATASTIC review coming from her! I made a single batch of this and my family of four polished it off in ONE evening. Next time I guess I will double it!!!

Slow Cooker Tender and Yummy Round Steak

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2005
I have made a basic recipe of beef, onion soup mix, and cream of mushroom soup for years. NEVER THOUGHT of adding the potatoes and carrots......THIS BROUGHT THE DISH TO LIFE!!!! A small suggestion for those that prefer a more "beefy" version of the gravy is to add a package of beef gravy along with a cup of water.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2002
There is only one word to describe this recipe.... YUM! This was sooo good. Took ordinary meatloaf and turned it into something wonderful. Tasted like a "mock bbq'd glazed rib". I will most assuredly be making this one again and again. Also, I think this would make a fantastic baked pork chop recipe. Any way you cut it, this one is a definite winner!!!

Johnny Appleseed Meatballs

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2002
Very tasty meatballs. I found this recipe, and added it to my "recipe box"... almost backed out of making it because the more I thought about it, the more leery I became at the concept of apples in beef! I went against my feelings on this one and made it anyway...THE FAMILY LOVED IT, INCLUDING MYSELF. Even my nine year old, who is the most picky eater in the world ate it! I would say this is a definate "keeper" and will be making it again

Better Than Best Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2002
This was "okay", nothing fantastic and I probably would not make it again because the end result (flavor and texture) just does not justify the mess of making the dish. I was EXPECTING a KFC type crust and was sorely disappointed when the chicken turned out no different had I simply dipped the chicken in water, then in a simple flour/salt/pepper coating. Like a few others who have left reviews here, my kids seemed to like it (they ate it) but my husband and I found it quite bland and unappealing.... I even added some onion power to the coating mix...

Sweet and Sour Smoked Sausage

Whiskey Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2002
I agree with MOLSON7 on this one all the way! I have to admit, when I first put it together, and "taste tested" it, my reaction was less then impressed.... then, I served it over rice and as I made my way through it, it seemed to get better and better... almost like an "acquired taste" sort of thing. I personally added a tablespoon of cornstarch to the "broth" to thicken it a bit. I will be making this one again, but think it can be much improved upon by using chunked pineapple in heavy syrup along with red and green bell peppers cut in strips.

Famous Butter Chicken

Three thumbs up! A wonderful recipe that tasted great! Chicken stayed moist, breading turned out lightly crunchy and very flavorful! I would used Ritz Crackers and it turned out GREAT!

Amusement Park Cornbread

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2002
This recipe is "okay". I expected something that had a heavier texture and MORE of the cornmeal taste, this was more like a "sweetened bisquit" with a hint of cornmeal taste. On the whole, it is a recipe worth trying, but I probably wont be making it again.
