I have been trying to equal my father's French Canadian and Indian Johnny Cakes. So far only mediocre success, but I am still young.
My cooking triumphs
Nailed that restaurant style prime rib. Loved to find a way to make it rare with out being raw. Super. And it only took me years to figure out. The origional slow learner.

Anytime I try and get "creative" and vary way off the recipe to "get rid of some stuff in the fridge".
