About this Cook
I never was one to enjoy cooking, My mom was a terrible cook, and I grew up eating canned food and swanson frozen entrees. When I first lived on my own, I celebrated that freedom by eating out every day of my life until I was about 30. That's when I met my husband, and everything changed. We bought a house together, and remodeled the kitchen. Now that room is the center of our home and our lives, people are always gethered there, and it always smells good. We have learned to truly love cooking and are becoming greater cooks with each meal. is a big help to me in the kitchen!
My favorite things to cook
I love spicy foods. Mexican, cajun, thai and indian dishes are my specialties. I am known around here as the Gumbo Queen! Seafood gumbo is my favorite all time dish, to prepare or to consume. Green curries are probably a close second. Things I like to have on hand always are fresh cilantro, jalapenos, onions and garlic, and tomatoes. I am currently trying to expand my spice palette to include more middle eastern spices. War would never be fought if cultures could just embrace the food.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving, Christmas, and easter are always big feast days. Mmmm!

Ramen Coleslaw
This is simply the best slaw Ive ever had. Use half red cabage and half green, with carrots too, for a really fancy look. Is great with BBQ chicken. I wonder how it would taste with a few raisins??? mmmm....

Brocomole Dip
Perhaps, to cure the blandness, you could use lime juice instead of lemon, and add a little fresh (seeded) japeno, and a little fresh cilantro. Throw in a clove of garlic. How about a tad of white vinegar? Those are all key to real guacamole, so surely they will perk up the broccoli version!

Spinach Chickpea Curry
It is unclear which type curry paste is called for; I substituted curry powder and it did not taste right. Maybe Vindaloo paste is what you used. I found this to be a rather bland and really dry dish, nothing like the zing of Indian cuisine. I will not make it again.
