Hawaiian Nut Loaf

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2012
The texture is good. I used a 20 oz can of pineapple (drained like I would for frozen spinach). It didn't have a strong pineapple flavor, but I would make it again.

Caramel Pecan Pound Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2012
very sweet. I would not add any icing or powered sugar on top as the cake is sweet enough without it.

tasted good, but the patties were too tender & fell apart.

Thai Quivering Tenderloins

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2012
fabulous. We doubled the marinade. I am concerned about the food safety issue of reusing the marinade & cooking it into a sauce.

Lemon Horseradish New Potatoes

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2012
I did not enjoy the flavor combination of lemon and horseradish. I won't make these again.

Pasta with Roasted Butternut Squash and Sage

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2011
We have made this several times and enjoy it, especially using pre cut squash. This time we creamed the roasted squash and onions. Better if you have people who would otherwise pick out the squash(me). We also always use evaporated milk instead of cream because of price and convenience.

Grandma's Egg Custard Pie

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2011
This is a lot like a Sugar Cream Pie that is popular in East Central Indiana. The best ones are from Wick's or the old Durbin Hotel.

We made this at school for a pre kindergarten class. Easy, fast, tasty and inexpensive to make.

Buckeye Balls II

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2003
Great. The kids loved them and had me make a second batch the next day. I did have to add about a tablespoon of water to the dough.

Cinnamon Roasted Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2003
My mother liked them. She said that they were a little greasy but worth making again with less oil.

Orange Meringue Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2003
I wasn't satisfied with how the pie turned out. The zest made it bitter (yes, I know not to use the white part) and gave it more texture than I care for. 2 egg whites made for a very skimpy topping also.

Restaurant-Style Chicken Tenderloins

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2003
Not an exciting dish, but it was easy and I had all the ingredients on hand. It did make a big mess in my pan as the sugars carmelized.

No Bake Peanut Butter Bars

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2003
The taste was very good, not too strong of any one flavor. My only problem was that they were so crumbly when cut. I lost almost half of each bar in crumbs. I don't know if I did something wrong but I don't think I will make them again for that reason.

John's Crabby Caps

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2003
OK, I admit that I didn't really read all the directions first. I just mixed everything together, threw it on some Portobello mushroom caps for a meal sized portion, put it in the oven topped with Provolone cheese. It was so good, fast and easy. 11/03 i have made them a few times now and they have turned out very dry when they weren't topped with the provolone.

Turkey and Provolone Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2003
They were good, but not that much more exciting than a regular turkey sandwich. I don't think that I'll be making the effort to have these again.
