Deep-Fried Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2010
This is the way to fry a turkey the best way!! But one reviewer stated..."put it in a NON SCENTED trashbag in the refrigerator overnight"... PLEASE...NEVER use ANY trash bags to put food into...they are ALL made with, NON-FOOD ingredients, and can contaminate ANY foods you put in them...there are food grade bags available...you can even use the cooking bags by Reynolds, you get 2 in a box for usually $2.59, and are pretty big--definetly big enough for turkeys!!

Everyone who tastes these will rave about all of the flavor, you can tweek with extra garlic etc. according to your tastes, but the original recipe here is a VERY good one!!

Chicken Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2009
This HAS to be 5 stars as far as I'm concerned, like another commenter stated tho,"if you want a little spice, then add it, but don't take away star ratings because "you" like it with or without more"...After all,a recipe is just one person's taste, YOU get to tweak them the way YOU will like it. And your recipe is VERY good CASSJW, and you deserve to know that it is!! So yes, I rated it 5 stars, because it IS a good recipe, and like she said, It's fun to do with kids also ; )

Amish Slaw

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2010
This is an EXCELLENT version of Real Amish Slaw!!! You won't be sorry you made it!!! Follow the recipe for the dressing tho...it DOES need all of that dressing to be authentic, and to last a little longer than a regular slaw would! Definitely 5 stars!!!

Key West Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2010
This is a VERY good recipe, but if you'd like the real taste of Key West, try using Key Limes for the juice of lime in the recipe...it DOES have a very different taste from a regular lime... Good Job Tina B. for the recipe tho!!!!

Mom's Country Gravy

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2010
This is basically the way I have been doing it for years, but instead, I don't add any oils or butters, and just use what comes off of the sage pork sausage I fry into large crumbles, then add the flour and cook it for a little bit, I do not whisk, but use spatula to mix... then add evaporated milk, lots of pepper, some basil, little salt, add some garlic powder to your families taste,(our's like lots ; ), then keep cooking until it tastes & is in the consistiency your family likes -we serve our's over biscuits--Yum ; ) so it's just: 1lb. Sage pork sausage-Bob Evans or Jimmy Dean's we use here 3/4 cup all purpose Flour 1 1/2 cans Evaporated milk---NOT sweetened milk Pepper-to taste Basil-to taste Salt-to taste Garlic Powder-to taste
