White Cheese Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2010
Well, I tried twice and both times this sauce turned out grainy. The first time, I admit, was cooked on too high of heat, but the second time was cooked at low (below simmer on my cooktop) and it still turned out grainy, even after stirring for over an hour on low heat, removing from heat and returning. Sorry, I've had better luck using white american cheese and will stick to that recipe.

Taco Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2010
So yummy and so easy to make. Very easy to create a low fat version if that's what you want. I used baked nacho chips instead of taco flavored, however both would be good. This also reheats well. A definite keeper!

Braised Balsamic Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2010
This was very tasty and so easy to make. I was worried the balsamic would be too strong, but it wasn't at all. I cut up the chicken before cooking to make sort of a stir fry and cooked the onions until tender and clear. We had this with a side of mashed potatoes, but next time will try rice or maybe egg noodles. Very yummy!

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2010
This ended up being just ok for us. I didn't think the rootbeer added anything to the dish. This could have just as easily been made with water or any other liquid for that matter, however the cooking style was great. Slow cooking a pork roast (I used a roast, not a tenderloin) in liquid makes for amazing results. Next time I'm going to use water and just season the meat with salt, pepper and some BBQ rub. The BBQ sauce you choose will make all the difference. Stick to one you like!

Asian Lettuce Wraps

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2010
This was very good! I thought the amount of hoisin was too much, so next time I will cut that in half. I added an add'l 1-2 Tbsp soy sauce and another 1 tsp sesame oil and may add a little brown sugar next time because my husband didn't think they were as sweet as the restaurant lettuce wraps, which he likes. Otherwise a very good base recipe with some minor tweaking.

Chocolate Chip Banana Bread II

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2010
Wow! The most moist and flavorful banana bread I've ever had. The only change I made was substituting butter for shortening. I baked this in a metal bread pan for 60 minutes and it came out perfectly! A definite keeper!!!

Sweet Corn Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2010
I've made this exact recipe, however I found it on a different site. It was way too buttery and crumbly, not soft and moist (puddinglike) as I had expected it to be. I will make again with less butter to see if that helps, along with doubling the recipe as it was a very thin layer as-is. Overall good flavor, just not the exact texture I was looking for.

Hot Artichoke and Spinach Dip II

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2010
This was a huge hit with my family for our usual Sunday football watching appetizer lunch. Very cheesy and so easy to make, too. A 5-star keeper!

Cha Cha's White Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2010
This has good flavor, but it's HOT as-is. I would give it 5 stars, but the first batch we ended up throwing out because we couldn't eat it. The 2nd batch we omitted the jalapenos and added corn starch to thicken it up and it was MUCH better. We also only added 2 cans of beans instead of 3 and added more chicken, as my husband likes his a little more "meaty". Overall, great recipe with modifications.

Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2009
This was just ok for me. I thought it needed something more. Not sure what the point of the ranch dressing is as you couldn't really taste it. Maybe a full packet would add more flavor? It could have been less spicy and a lot easier to just marinade a chicken breast and then grill it.

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2009
Mmmmmmm...very good and so easy to make! We used crushed up tortilla chips in place of making our own strips and it turned out just fine. We'll be making this one again!

Fantastic recipe! I made it exactly as the recipe called for and it was perfect. It made sweet, light, thin pancakes...just like I like them! Cooked up perfectly...this is a keeper!

Summer Zucchini Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2009
I've been making this and eating this casserole made by other family members for years! It's one of my favorites. I omit the carrots, though, and use plain bread crumbs as opposed to the chicken flavored kind, which can be overpowering. I also sautee the zucchini and leave the onion raw to cook in the casserole - turns out perfect every time!

Cheesy Potatoes II

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2008
This recipe has been in my family for years. The only modifications are we use sour cream and chives (this adds an extra layer of flavor) and use buttered coated corn flakes on top. This is by far creamier and richer than any recipe using cheddar cheese. Delicious!

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2008
This is good, however, it's better when fresh chicken breasts are used. Just boil them for 20 minutes and then shred or stick in the food processor for a few quick seconds. I also use Blue Cheese dressing instead of ranch, since Blue Cheese goes so well with buffalo sauce. We serve this with flour tortilla chips - delish!

Basil Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2008
This recipe was very easy to make in under 30 minutes and tasted very good. I did have to add a bit more sugar to take the acidity out (around 3 TBSP) and probably could have used a bit more basil. I put garlic croutons and shredded parmesan in my bowl and it was fabulous. The next time I may try it with one can of crushed and one can of diced tomatoes to make it a little thicker. All in all a very good recipe.

Spinach Quiche

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2008
I have made this twice now for breakfasts at work and I always get requests to make this again. I follow the recipe exactly, except I omit the mushrooms, and add a mix of shredded cheeses. You can make this in one deep dish pan, or two regular size pie crusts. Turns out perfect either way. This one is a keeper!!

Easiest Brownies Ever

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2008
I made these brownies one Saturday afternoon when I had a sudden urge for brownies. Having no "mixes" on hand, I came here and found this recipe. It was easy to make and turned out wonderful! I ended making them in a 9x13 pan because I don't have a 9x11 and I thought a 9x9 would be too thick. They turned out fairly thin, but still moist, chewy and very chocolaty! My husband loved them, too, and he's a hard critic when it comes to desserts. These actually remind me of a mix between fudge and a brownie, both so good!! I will be making these again. Thanks for the great recipe.
