Muesli

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2012
I just made my 2nd batch of this - I think the first batch lasted over a month. When I bought all the ingredients I thought, 'Woa, this is expensive to make," but besides the oatmeal everything bought the first time will probably go for SEVERAL batches. While I was adding all this good stuff to the bowl I also added 1/2 c ground flax seed because I had some in the fridge. I eat 2 tbsp every morning mixed with a 6oz Light n Fit yogurt and I follow with as much water as I can swallow. This really fills me up and keeps me full for a couple of hours and what I like best is that I KNOW this is so GOOD for me and it tastes GREAT. I either eat this for breakfast every morning or my mid-morning snack at work. I'm lucky to say that I've never had bowel problems but would be willing to bet that if you do, and you made this part of your daily routine - it would help a great deal. I followed the recipe exactly and really don't think I would change anything - but it is a recipe that you could definitely add or subtract a couple things and it would still be great.

Sour Cream Noodle Bake

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2011
My 12 yr old daughter was bored and wanted to cook and picked this recipe. We used lean ground Sirloin but did not saute in butter. We substituted fresh garlic for the garlic salt and used whole wheat noodles. We couldn't WAIT to eat this for lunch because it smelled so good! I think the green onions and cottage cheese really enhanced the flavor of this dish. Definitely a keeper!

Hungarian Kifli II

I see some differences between my mom's recipe...she uses sour cream instead of cream cheese and instead of rolling out the dough onto a floured surface she rolls it onto a powdered sugar.

Grandma Irena's Palacsinta (Hungarian Crepes)

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2010
My mom used to make these for my sister and I when my dad was on 2nd shift and not home for supper. She would fill them with a sweetened cottage cheese and powdered sugar on top -so yummy...now I make them for my kids and I usually end up eating more than they do! Maybe I'm subconsciously making them for myself! :)

Turkish Style Eggs

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2010
My husband is originally from Istanbul...I told him about this recipe and he said he would make it for me. I was almost done inhaling mine when he asked if I needed a spoon...I told him I needed a longer tongue so I could lick the enitre bowl. This dish is AMAZING. I can't wait to have my parents over for breakfast...this will blow them away. We usually have nice breakfasts on the weekends but I've started making this for myself ont he weekedays before I go to work!

Turkish Halwa

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2010
I want to thank Asli for her contribution of Turkish dishes. My husband is originally from Istanbul and I wanted to surprise him with this recipe. I didn't have much luck with it (Sueb review could have been mine) and he told me that his mom used to make Halwa but not with Molasses. I'm going to try your other Turkish recipes that you've submitted.

Wonderful. My entire family loved it. Next time I'll have to double the recipe because it was gone to soon.

GG's Bulgur Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2008
This is definitely a keeper!!! The array of flavors are magnificent. The only thing that I had to omit was Cilantro, but not by my choice. I love it, my husband does not. But it really didn't matter because it was still great. Even my children liked it. This recipe will make it into the schedule probably every other week. Thanks!
