things  are simple when you look at them the right way. for instance, the smell of the first grass cut, a barbeque wafting in the air, the laughter of a child, finding a letter from a friend from many years ago. life goes on . we are mice on a treadmill it seems at times. you must take time to enjoy the moment. really! we all need to slow down and find something good about why you are doing what you are doing. there are many round-ups occuring now and over the course of the year. they are terrific things! folks are stepping away from their self-controlled happy zone and taking chances. are they disappointed....certainly doesn't appear so. i suggest anyone that can attend one to go. if you can not, start one. you will make a friend. someone that has a very common interest and just as worried as you may be about throwing your "self-preservation skills" away. we are all extremely similar folks here. sounds incredible...but believe me, we are. you must bridge that river of distrust about folks. someone here is a kindred spirt...probably many more than you know. we all have or will experience the same  msifourtunes and joys. so after saying a full mouthful......the 2nd annual round-up is official! ya come! read , cindy lepps, robograndmas, pelicangals, arich and prior blogs by myself to see what you missed last year. this year's round-up is again in panama city, fla. middle of september. we are a very laid-back group that loves to have fun, most of us are staying a week. stay as long as you like. we have reserved very nice condos at the celadon on the west end of p.c. fla.. twice as many folks are coming...many i'm sure you would love to meet in person as much as i do!this is simple, nobody expects ANYTHING! we are all just meeting as a cult of serial killers...ok, maybe some serious oysters carnivores. my e-mail is ya got questions leave them here or if more comfortable e-mail me. ROCK ON!

Perfect blog to wake up to! I didn't want to wake up this early but you know my roundup is starting this Friday and my "to do" list is long. But it is SO worth the effort because I have met some incredible people because of the roundup. I wish I could come to yours but it just isn't in the cards this year.

Sure do want to come to your round up, Gary but my travel funds are all used up except for a few short trips to our son's house. BTW, Gary, is that email link correct?

One of things I love most in life is hearing the laughter of children. It's from the belly real and unrestrained AND always makes me laugh too! I live in a subdivision and I love to hear my neighbors mowing their yard, going outside and smelling my neighbors bbq and waving across the road to say Hi Neighbor, long see! remember, we get 9 months of no sun and rain. When our dear Mama died, we found letters she had written to our dear Papa during WW2. What a love affair they had. Yes, Gary... life is too short to be angry, envious or snarky. I LOVE YOU BLOG!!! Thanks for pointing out the need to STOP and smell the roses. Oh YES, and attend an AR Get-together if you can too!
Jun. 6, 2012 4:27 pm
hi mags! youwould experience southern hospitality like no where before. hope you can get here another time and stay awhile! have a blast at cat hills!
Jun. 6, 2012 4:32 pm

Jun. 6, 2012 4:39 pm
hi candice! you have a heart of gold. i certainly wish you could come to the southern round-up. folks from all over the nation attending. very informal...many folks rooming together to save money. an incredible experience. i know folks may be apprehensive...but you will find kind and kindred spirts! it's hard to explain...but after attending will understand.
Jun. 8, 2012 11:13 am
I agree completely...taking time to do the things that make you happy and to make and share memories with people you love is priceless. It seems sort of self-centered, but even more, it's self-affirming and makes you a better and healthier person.
Jun. 8, 2012 5:13 pm
hi 2! i that is a different angle on it. i agree. kinda self-centered but one that could benefit others by your actions. maybe in ways that are not immediately clear. round-ups is really a leap of faith for folks. so much effort, time -off, travel, and of course the money...on really just a belief. go to a will get laughter rings...stay awhile. many folks experience/d the same things as you. just an amazing group of people! you are certainly welcome to a hog-tied round-up southern style!

About Me
i enjoy cooking. the wife considers it a chore. i hate yard work. she loves it. we mesh. i love bass fishing, reading, music, baseball, college football and my family.
My favorite things to cook
i love vegetables, soups, and italian cusine.
My favorite family cooking traditions
holidays are a big deal! christmas is my time to shine. i try to add a new recipe each year, but the family demands pretty much the same menu. kinda frustrating!
My cooking triumphs
i cared for my mother in law about 3 months when she had shattered her shoulder. i didn't work, so money was tight. we survived on only wife's paycheck during that time. ma-n-law had diet restrictions. it was difficult to make cheap, nutritious meals everyone would eat. we prospered as a family and learned alot about each other's strenghths and weaknesses.
My cooking tragedies
a stove top fire. i explained that one already. the grill falling over was another one...oops grill season is here! i love the tragedies...those are the ones that i'll always remember!
