tomorrow, the 1st of may will be our 30th wedding annversary. i can't believe she has put up me this long. i thought i would be on my 5th wife by now. here is news on claire...we went back to atlanta today. she is still having seizures. once a week...i still freak out. new medication now. this will be the 4th she has tried. the local neurologist is a real a$$hole. only 3 in a city of over 300,000 folks. the new guy seems great...time will tell. i worry still about her...somedays are better then others, i'll take all of them. =we were driving back from atlanta and " our song" came on, and i asked who the band was. she couldn't remember. ok....sorry. .....let's get to the bad....sears, i hate the store. i finally ORDERED a wall oven. we have always had ge or kenmore kitchen appliances. they have been extremely dependable and worked well. we had NUMEROUS problems trying to resolve issues with replacing the dead oven. it would take another chapter (a very long one) to address all the trouble i went thru. ok, an example see if you can find a sears compliant dept in the phone-book or online. amazing isn't it?.....the ugly...the kitchen is ready for the oven ( delivery may15th) , but we had a problem with our master shower leaking. i call the grout guys to fix it. nope, it's the shower pan that has cracked/busted....whatever. instead of maybe 500 bucks to re-grout. we now have to tear out EVERYTHING in the bathroom. so now begins the process of selecting what claire wants to replace everything with...tile/ some type of marble, cabinets paint, etc. this is going to be nighmare. can't wait!! yehaw...ok kitchen and bathroom will/ shall be done in god's name befor the tempurtures reach 100 here! yeah right, said with dripping sarcasm. nope , insuance co. said yep it's bad, but has been an existing problem. no help......ok gotta leave something good again....the southern round-up! i will certainly be needing a vacation AND WE ARE TAKING ONE, OK 2 . witchywoman is throwing a shindig in washington state in august...we will be there. then, the southern roudup in panama city ,fla. in september. check my prior blog about details. cindy lepp left better instructions on one of her blogs. many folks coming. claire and i are still looking for room-mates. oue e'mail is

Sorry Claire is still having seizures but I am so glad you two are still listening to your song together. As far as remodeling goes, I'd rather burn the house down and start over then ever remodel again! Sounds like you will soooo need the roundups to look forward to :)

I'm sure your sense of humor has kept Claire going--not only for the last couple of years, but for EVER! You are both blessed to have each other! Good luck with the bathroom. Like my hubby always tells me, you never know if you've saved enough! (We start sounding like our parents!)

PS What is it with psychiatrists and neurologists? They both have no personality at all----at least the ones I've met.

Happy Anniversary! Since you are planning to travel maybe think about a trip to Mayo Clinic for Claire (if you haven't already) Magnificent insight there regarding seizure disorders. You need an appointment and you need to bring ALL medical records (as far back and as thorough as possible) Speaking from experience.Have a great summer! Say Hi to Witchy!

Happy Anniversary! My darling husband looked at Kenmore wall ovens last week because they were 50% off but inaction caused us to miss the sale. I'll be interested to hear how your experience goes. My wall oven desperately needs to be replaced.

Hi gderr. i have never commented on your blogs before, but i read them. i am commenting now because i have had problems with seizures before, too. I have been seizure free now for about 5 years. I started taking 500 mg of depakote twice a day. Then they upped it to 750 mg twice a day. The seizures slowed down but I was still having one every three months or so. Finally they added 750 mg of keppra twice a day and that did it. Just thought I would put in my 2 cents worth. I hope it helps. -)

hi hot coco! i'm so glad you commented! she was initalilly on kepra then went to zonegran, then lamotrigine, she now wants to go back to keppra. she has spent a week on depakoe and vimpat. so nice of you to share your experience with us. this is a learning adventure...trying to regulate the doseage levels and different reactions to the medications. and the local doctor was a real ...well never mind. i'm very glad you have been seizure free so long! really...i see how it affects folks around the poor victim, many times no understanding. god bless you!

I know a wonderful Neurologist- Dr. Randy Rosenberg Chairman of the Neurology Dept. of Aria Health in Philadelphia... has been known to bring along an Irish flute to play for hospitalized patients to heal their souls as well as their bodies (and to the everlasting consternation of floor nurses...) It could be worth a try or sending a set of records... Good luck!

About Me
i enjoy cooking. the wife considers it a chore. i hate yard work. she loves it. we mesh. i love bass fishing, reading, music, baseball, college football and my family.
My favorite things to cook
i love vegetables, soups, and italian cusine.
My favorite family cooking traditions
holidays are a big deal! christmas is my time to shine. i try to add a new recipe each year, but the family demands pretty much the same menu. kinda frustrating!
My cooking triumphs
i cared for my mother in law about 3 months when she had shattered her shoulder. i didn't work, so money was tight. we survived on only wife's paycheck during that time. ma-n-law had diet restrictions. it was difficult to make cheap, nutritious meals everyone would eat. we prospered as a family and learned alot about each other's strenghths and weaknesses.
My cooking tragedies
a stove top fire. i explained that one already. the grill falling over was another one...oops grill season is here! i love the tragedies...those are the ones that i'll always remember!
