If my bottom lip sticks out any farther...... I have to say Lady Sparkle is right, we need to win the lottery so we can visit everyone!!! It is SO cool to meet the people that you talk to. Did I mention I love seafood? Just keep the sea snakey looking creatures away from me. Cooking a land one was enough for me. I am so glad you all had a great time!!!

Gary...you said on pelican's blog that if there were a NW get-together that you & Claire want to go...well, I was going to host one this last summer, but we had a family tragedy, so I had to postpone it...it's definately on for next summer, at the beach. Email me laurriepiland at hotmail dot com. I wanted to get in touch with you anyway for the next time you go to Port Angeles. It looks like you all had an awesome time...I'd have like to be there!

So glad everyone had so much fun. Parasailing is fun...my mom did it for her 60th birthday, so anyone can do it if she did. Too bad we had other plans and couldn't make it there, but there is always next time.

Sep. 29, 2011 6:22 am
From the description you provided it sounds like you are still on an AR Peep high. I feel the same way when my gang gets together. We are all enjoying each other so much the time flies and we reluctantly part. Hope to see you all in the near future. Life seems short when you are knockin' on 60. Like gderr said, if one of these round ups come up around your parts.....GO. If you can, host a round up. You will have a blast.

Sep. 29, 2011 8:19 am

thanks, GDerr, for organizing this blast of a gathering. I didn't get to come, but, after reading everyone's reports and seeing the pictures, I feel like I almost was there!! What an awesome get-to-gather! What an awesome house, Gderr and Claire! You 2 are truly "Southern Hospitality" at its best!

Reading your blog gives me such mixed feelings. I am so thrilled for everyone that participated and I can feel that heart-felt connection as if I had been there too! I feel a little regret too, regret that I didn't pull things together and join you! Oh, and of course that green dragon is very present as I look at everyone's pics! Gary, you are one amazing man and Claire is even more gorgeous than you described! Hope you stay up on that cloud for a long time!

You're right Gary, who in their right mind goes off to spend a weekend with total strangers met on the internet? We do! And the things we have in common besides cooking are uncanny. Love my new friends from both Midwest Round-ups and the Vegas Bash. So glad everyone had a good time!

Oh, that sounds like such fun! Glad you all had a great time. I'm going to be moving to AZ-should be in escrow next week~then I have to sell my place here (after 34 years!) & get me,my critters & everything moved-it's gonna be a job! I'm really hoping I can get to the next get-together. The round-up highs last for quite awhile!

About Me
i enjoy cooking. the wife considers it a chore. i hate yard work. she loves it. we mesh. i love bass fishing, reading, music, baseball, college football and my family.
My favorite things to cook
i love vegetables, soups, and italian cusine.
My favorite family cooking traditions
holidays are a big deal! christmas is my time to shine. i try to add a new recipe each year, but the family demands pretty much the same menu. kinda frustrating!
My cooking triumphs
i cared for my mother in law about 3 months when she had shattered her shoulder. i didn't work, so money was tight. we survived on only wife's paycheck during that time. ma-n-law had diet restrictions. it was difficult to make cheap, nutritious meals everyone would eat. we prospered as a family and learned alot about each other's strenghths and weaknesses.
My cooking tragedies
a stove top fire. i explained that one already. the grill falling over was another one...oops grill season is here! i love the tragedies...those are the ones that i'll always remember!
