my heart breaks for all the similar stories posted on my earlier blog....no one lives in a vacuum. i pray for each and all of you to hopefully have a positive result to the misfortunes placed before you. we are so fortunate to have the support of such a terrific, diverse group of caring indiviuals on this site. i count myself very lucky, indeed! ......my wife had surgery to relieve the pressure , the neurosegeon removed a portion of her scalp to remove the clotted blood and clean up the burst blood vessel as best as possible. he then stapled the scalp back in place. he said to be cautious with our optisim, but felt considering all things we could consider the surgery succesful.. we all left elated! 4 hours later, a call comes, tremendous pressure has developed on her brain (41+). get here asap. i have 2 minutes to decide what to do... gator and moose are with me., the ma-in-law and sisters-in-law frantically trying to get back. ok...very long story short. they remove the scalp again, sew into abodmen (to keep alive and replace later) and relieve the pressure. we have that assurance of "48 hours" will tell the story. that ended today. ok baby steps---- i love these baby steps , (i consider this terrific news!)----one of her doctors (she has half a dozen i think) has decreased the oxygen in the ventillator, added a feeding tube, decreased the sedative, and will not allow us to sleep in her room. oh, i almost forgot....her nurse when she administered a shot for pain said "Claire this may sting.;" i don't know why that made me feel good................yeah i do, here's why (my twisted judgement, but i need to believe!)-----ya can't sleep here because she's no longer in immediate danger. the nurse talking to her---she, the nurse, acknowledgeed that my wife was alive, and not a pin-cushion or a sack of potatos...she talked to her as she would my shot-scared wussy self.. btw to anyone wishing to send card to her please send to :columbus medical center, 702 center st. columbus,ga. 31902...claire derr, the cooking-challenged wife/ blushing-bride. i truly appreciate all the prayers, love, concern. she is the love of my life. thanks again.
