No Fail Pie Crust II

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2014
I love recipes that I can assault the kitchen aid with only to have it come out tasting like I worked my fingers to the bones and so yummy. I did bake the shells at 425 for 20 minutes until golden brown. I would like for the insructions to include baking time.

Peppy's Pita Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2012
I LOVE this bread for many, many reasons. I doubled the batch and I am so glad I did, and yes it bakes in 5 minutes, another great reason right there. We dipped it in hummus, olive oil, seasoned olive oil, and made mini pizzas--all in one day! Now I am thinking this bread would be great for calzones since my house smelled like a pizzaria while it baked. I added a handful of bread dipping seasoning to the dough, ya know the mix of seasoning that the nice Italian restaurants place in the dish with the olive oil. Definately brush with olive oil. I can't say enough things about this bread! Thank you!

Golden Crescent Rolls

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2012
This was very yummy and pretty. I would like it to be more dense, or maybe more buttery. I will tweak it a bit but I loved it overall.

Funnel Cakes III

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2012
I like this recipe because it has sugar as an added ingredient and its enough for 5 mini-regular sized funnel cakes. I suggest adding vanilla and we preferred them crispy.

Yum! Yum! Yum! Tangy and sweet and perfect. I have some major plans for this one. Crab and avacado salad. Steak fajita wraps. Chicken fajita wraps. Shrimp dip or kabobs. Awesome.

Stabilized Whipped Cream Icing

Reviewed: May 17, 2012
DOUBLE YOUR RECIPE :) This recipe as is will make maybe?? 2 cups and I prefer more due to many "testers" in the kitchen. I used 3 Tbsp confectioners sugar and its just right. If you want the outcome of a very sweet icing, then you should add more. Why not? I stirred the gelatin at 30 second intervals for 2 minutes and I think it worked great.

Puff Pastry

Reviewed: May 1, 2012
AMAZING!!! Three ingredients!! I saw the layers in my crust/tomato tart. After I chilled the dough for about 5 hours, I rolled it out into a rectangle, folded into 3rds , gave it a clockwise turn, and repeated a few times, always turning clockwise. Thank you! ****SECOND REVIEW**** I added sugar to the dough to make turnovers/cherry pies and wow!!! It tastes like the crust on the apple pies at McDonalds. JACKPOT :)

Southern Shortcake

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2012
My shortcake came out heavy and dense but still it tasted just ok. I wanted to add some baking soda/powder for a bit of fluff but did not even though regular buscuits have those ingredients. I did add sugar to the dough. Not quite what I desired but not bad either.

Country-Style Ribs

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2012
I liked the suggestion of browning the ribs in flour. Nice. The fat on the ribs crisped a bit because of it and it was good tasting. I put the sauce on at the last 10 minutes of cooking however.

Baker's Secret Pie Crust

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2012
Loving it! I just threw everything together in my mixer (dry ingredients first) and yep, what a great crust! I skipped the ice cubes, did not freeze anything, no extras, and even though my dough was a slightly greasy from the room temp butter, I had no fuss at all.

Skeeter's Ceviche

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2012
I used this wonderful recipe to start me out. I added avacados, cucumber, garlic, and my favorite blend of all spices. I was happy to see limes instead of lemon and fresh tomatoes being used instead of canned paste or puree. Double your recipe because its healthy and tastes even better the next day. Thank you Skeeter.

We loved the cream with the soup and it was very yummy. My daughter suggested we put zucchini in it next time and I think that is a good idea.

Fortune Cookies I

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2011
I dropped the batter onto the pan with an ice cream scoop then turned the spoon over to use the curved part to smooth batter in a circle. My cookies cracked a little but it is nothing compared to the fun and creative messages one can create. I did add a little milk also to thin it out a bit. Thank you.

Turtle Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2011
This is a cute project on a blustery, cold winter day. I covered the bread with foil halfway through baking time so I could get a golden color instead of dark brown. I found a similar recipe in one of my distinguished cook books. The directions are entirely different. The directions in THIS recipe is better, I think, as far as getting that yeast activated. I will add more sugar next time in step #3 as well. very fun!

Tortillas I

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2011
***The first few tortillas came out looking like The Grinch so to help shape them, I rolled the dough in a ball and pressed with a plate to give a good start to a circle.*** I put an extra dollop of shortening because mama likes shortening. My family would not keep their hands off of them as they came off the pan.
