Pumpkin Apple Streusel Muffins

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2002
We made ours into a 9 x 13 coffee cake & it was very moist. We used other suggestions given about the use of brown sugar instead of white sugar for topping & used suggested portion of spices for the pumpkin pie spice (cinnamon, ginger, all spice, & nutmeg).

Grilled Beer Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2002
Since we use skinless, boneless chicken breasts we used the spices & beer as a marinade. It was ok, but won't make again this way. We'll wait until we have a whole chicken & try as recommended, & then determine if it is a keeper or not.

Buche de Noel

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2002
Very rich, but who cares!!! When serving, after dushing with powder sugar, we topped ours off with sliverd almonds, but could also try shaved chocolate. We experienced the cake sticking to the dishtowel, so will dust heavier next time.

Blue Cheese and Dried Cranberry Tossed Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2008
Really nice flavors. I did add more cranberries - personal preference. Once the balsamic vinaigrette is gone I'm going to use raspberry vinaigrette on the salad instead. I bought good blue cheese & I really liked it better than the cheaper stuff.

Grilled Zucchini II

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2003
This is another easy way to prepare grilled zucchini. We thought it had a very mild flavor. Will do again.

Cranberry Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2002
FANTASTIC!!!!! A nice change from the usual chocolate & nut bars. My husband loved these, so will make again. I may try next time with a little orange zest or a touch more cinnamon. The filling is so easy, I may try doing some kind of a cranberry pie/tart with it also.

Sensational Sirloin Kabobs

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2001
If you like your green pepper alittle crunchy you may not want to parboil the pieces since they come out great when grilling the kabobs.

California Style Israeli Salad

Reviewed: May 9, 2005
Thank Haven for the produce guy because I had no idea what the difference was between a English cucumber & a regular one, much less what a jicama was. I was skeptical about the jicama, but I'm going to be looking for more recipes with it. This is a keeper, but I'd refrigerate several hours before serving because it tastes better & the flavors can blend.

Orange Rosemary Chicken

Reviewed: May 25, 2004
We put this on the grill instead of the broiler. I also marinated overnight. Very easy.

Sweet Pea Mockamole

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2003
EXCELLENT, & without the calories. The longer it sits, the better it taste, but it is hard to leave alone. My husband didn't think this recipe would work, but he has made it several times already. This is easy to make.

Curried Quinoa

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2008
Hubby said it was a 5. Since we've been exposed to several Quinoa recipes, we really like it. I will reduce the ancho chile powder to 2 tsp next time because I felt it overpowered the curry.

Peach Angel Food Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2003
Use a name brand of angel food cake as it does make a difference. I also feel it needed more peaches, so next time I'll use a larger can of diced peaches.

Basil, Tomato and Mozzarella Sandwich

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2006
Simple, but we made it more of a meal. We roasted red peppers & red onion on the grill, then when almost ready, added mozzarella cheese. Per reviews we dipped in red wine vinegar. I'm going to add portabello mushrooms next time & just put a little roasted red pepper dressing or raspberry vinaigrette on hoagie or hard bun. I liked this much more than my husband.

Steak Salad (Ranen Salad)

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2003
Nice quick meal. My husband & I both thought the dressing had to much of a vinegar taste, so will cut back on the red wine vinegar a touch.

Oven-Baked Caramel French Toast

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2002
Very sweet, but good. We didn't use the carmel sauce, but next time we make we'll use the sauce and not the 1st 3 ingredients. We'll use alot less nutmeg also. A nice change from rolls.

Fresh Peach Trifle

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2007
EASY!! Since now is not the time for fresh peaches, I used can. I'll make again because it was so easy & it doesn't have all the calories of using a pudding. May try other types of fruit.

Magical Mint Kiss Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2002
DELICIOUS!!!!!!! I used 1 2/3c - 1 3/4c flour since other comments said to use less. I did some without the powder sugar & great also. Had to put in the freezer so we didn't eat them all right away. May try just the cookie part (without mints) for chocolate cookies.
