Slow-Cooker Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2012
Did just as recipe called for even though I wanted to use my favorite BBQ sauce. This sauce was all ketchup flavor, so half way through the cooking time I added some African Smoke BBQ Seasoning (Trader Joe's I believe has it). Anyway that made it edible. We decided the method of cooking was great - tender ribs so will do again only without this sauce. There was so much sauce left over that we thought it would be good as a pulled pork or sloppy joe. We took leftover ribs & some hamburger, added the sauce & WOW!!!! Now I have a new sloppy joe recipe using this sauce that I like better & I may try a pork roast with this sauce, with the African Smoke Seasoning & make a pulled pork. Thanks for the recipe, just because we don't like it for the ribs, we will use in the other 2 ways.

Apple Cole Slaw

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2012
Fabulous, won't make regular creamy coleslaw again unless for over hot dogs & hamburgers. Didn't have green onion so used a little red onion & did make things even easier by using a bag of coleslaw instead of purchasing everything. I like Kraft Coleslaw dressing & had that on hand so used it instead. The crunch of the apples & the color of the pepper & red onion made it appealing.

Three Bean Salad With Celery

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2012
Made & let sit as recommended, but this would've been a 5 if I'd let sit over night. I had a little leftover & having it the next day was so much better with the flavor mixing. Next time I'll make a day ahead of when I want it. Also, we don't care for garbanzo beans so used yellow wax beans instead.

Lime Cilantro Rice

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2012
After trying a few forks full, we had to adapt so we could eat it. We added orange marmalade because the lime was over powering. Since this is similar to a rice we use when making Mole, which has cumin, rice, orange marmalade & cilantro, we'll keep using that instead.

Sesame Beef Bites

Reviewed: May 30, 2012
Nice flavor, but will change a few things. Next time we'll either sear the meat quickly as a stir fry would be, or put on the grill. I won't be cutting the meat as small either, no need for how we'd use it. I did have a problem with the smell of the marinade, was pretty strong, but the taste wasn't. A keeper.

Very good & nice blend. Looked pretty with all the different colors & the cute way of doing the cucumber.

Chocolate Mint Dessert Brownies

Reviewed: May 30, 2012
Disappointed, could hardly taste the mint & I added more creme de menthe even. I'll try again with even more & if no improvement I'll look for something else. This was easy & I gave to neighbors on both sides of us, but that was before I tasted them.

Bacon Popcorn

Reviewed: May 27, 2012
Different. We did use the bacon bites, but not the cheddar cheese. Will probably only make for a change from regular popped popcorn. Do thnk next time we'll add the cheddar cheese.

Berry Crumb Bars

Reviewed: May 15, 2012
Hubby said to give it 3 stars, but I wanted 1 star. It s way to much crust & not enough berries. I'll try one more time with those changes & hope it is better. I used fresh berries so that wasn't a problem. The crust seemed greasy to me, but hub thought ok. I'm sorry I didn't have the better rating like others did, but for me this is what I thought.

Chocolate Wontons

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2012
Fabtastic, simple, love them. We decided the next time to use mini chips because it might make wrapping these easier. Also want to try with apple & cinnamon or just apple pie filling would probably work ok.

Hamburger Buns

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2012
Didn't get as many as recipe mentioned, but will be making again & bigger yet. I don't know why they didn't spread & shape better, but even if I only get a dozen out of a full recipe that is ok. Very easy to make. Dough was very sticky, so may have to add more flour than calls for.

Sweet Italian Green Beans

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2012
Hubby really liked these. I did use fresh green beans & may try using a can, but don't think it'd be as good. (personal taste) I do think we'll use half the brown sugar as I thought it was a little to sweet.

Refried Beans Without the Refry

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2012
Made the house smell good & it wasn't hard at all to do since you use a slow cooker. I will reduce the pepper though with my next batch. Oops, I just realized while looking at the recipe that I forgot the alapeno or serano substitute pepper. Oh well, they still tasted good when sampling. I did soak the beans overnight so it only took half the time to cook.

Spicy Indian Chicken and Mango Curry

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2012
Easy to make, but no taste/flavor. I felt it was a waste of mangoes that I love. The price for coconut milk was high & I thought I was lucky to find the last can in the store. Now I wish I'd left it for someone else. The curry paste, I thought, would've brought some distinct flavor, but nothing. Very disappointed & won't make this again.

Stovetop Granola

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2012
Easy, but to moist. I may bake it next time. I did reduce the brown sugar & butter as recommended by others so I can't imagaine how wet it'd been otherwise. I added raisins for more dried fruit. If made into bars the ingredients should stick together well.

Reuben Pizza

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2012
Never had a Reuben pizza so didn't know exactly what to expect. I found a whole wheat prepared pizza crust so used that instead of bread dough. We used olive oil with a little garlic powder & onion powder replacing the Thousand Island dressing (don't like) that others suggested. This wasn't so bad, but will try again with a different "sauce". We're going to put dijon mustard w/horseradish in because it needed a "kick" & that is what we put on our Reubens. It is a nice change from sausage & mushroom or chicken pizzas.

Chicken Chimichangas with Sour Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2012
Very good!!! It took longer to cook down, but worth it. I was afraid it would be overload on spice, but not so. The only thing I did different was use half as much sauce as needed for the number of chimichangas I made. I had leftover chili's because of it & next time I'll use the full amount instead of cutting that back also. Will make again, but probably not to often because of the time, but I may make several bathches & freeze.

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2012
Very good. I did others advice & double the sauce since we added the veggies & served over rice as the submitter suggested. Next time I'm going to reduce the hot sauce a tish just out of preference. Would like to try as an appetizer also.

Hot Corn Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2012
Was kind of disappointed, but still gave it 4 stars. We used Rotel because that has more umph to it, used the garlic & chili powder also, but it didn't have much kick. Will make again, but try Rotel tomatoes again & double the chili powder.
