Balsamic Grilled Zucchini

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2013
This just doesn't cut it for us. With the spice and balsamic being so heavy, you don't get taste of zucchini. I don't know if changing the amount of seasoning or balsamic would make a difference, but we're not making this again. Very disappointed as we like zucchini on the grill & thought this would be a nice change from some of the ways we already prepare it.

Baked Omelet Roll

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2013
Light & fluffy, but only a starter recipe. Next time we make this we'll still use the 9x13 pan. We'd used a 9x9 since we reduced the number of servings. It needs the "normal" toppings for an omelet like mushroom, pepper etc. The toppings would need to be fried first & put on after egg mixture has set some. Will make again.

Spicy Southwestern Slaw

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2013
Different. We didn't add the jalapeno since we didn't have one & you sure don't need it. We cut back on the cayenne pepper a little, but will try 1/2 tsp next time. Also reduced the onion, pepper & oil. Instead of going through the hassle of shredding cabbage we just bought a bag of coleslaw & that worked well. We put over pulled pork & was very tasty. Usually use creamy coleslaw for things like that, but this was a nice change. Will make again with our reduction changes.

Campfire S'mores in a Cone

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2013
This is a basic start to a good idea. We've tried & I sent a couple of variations over to the neighbors & kids for some input. Everyone liked, but needed to tweek . Everyone liked the adding graham cracker, don't have marshmellow on top because it sticks to the foil. We just put in the oven, but would suggest a low temp like maybe 250 & maybe then the marshmellow wouldn't puff up & stick. Will make again.

Italian Tacos

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2013
Easy to make, but won't make as is again. I think you really need to add mushrooms, ricotta cheese or something. Also I'd add the sauce to the meat mixture so it isn't so runny. I'm going to try this with large pasta shells and as a sub/hoagie I think.

Grilled Five Spice Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2013
I was going to try this once more, but hubby didn't care for it so won't. We used chicken breast without the skin so I don't know if that had anything to do with it being so grainy tasting or not. I think it just had to much five spice seasoning, but guess won't be trying to tweak this now. We like five spice seasoning so thought it would be good, but just to much I think.

French Bread Rolls to Die For

Reviewed: May 29, 2013
Easy & very good. I used 2 cookie sheets & next time I want to give more space between rolls so I'll use 3.

Springtime Spaghetti

Reviewed: May 6, 2013
Did exactly as stated except used dried dill. Since using as a entrée instead of side dish I added shrimp as others suggested. If it wasn't for the shrimp there wouldn't have been any flavor. It was still blah to us because I used cooked shrimp instead of fresh & cook it in with the veggies.

Rated G Mexican Coffee

Reviewed: May 6, 2013
Did exactly as directions said, but didn't taste that great. By the time it was strained the coffee was cooled down a lot. Had strong taste from either the clove or cinnamon, couldn't tell for sure which. Won't be making again.

Hot Pizza Dip

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2013
Mixed reviews from this household. It is a hot dip, but doesn't taste like a pizza to us, but lasagna. Won't be making again.

Pretty good. Didn't use the walnuts as I put this on a orange cake.

Cajun Spiced Pork Chops

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2013
Nothing that great. You could use Cajun spice, rub on pork chops & grill for a better taste & no stove mess to clean up.

Apple Almond Crunch Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2013
Good, except next time I'll add more raisins, almonds, & apple. It is such a nice change from regular greens, carrot, mushroom & tomato salad.

Cranberry Carrot Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2013
This is like another cake recipe I have, but with cranberries. Hubby & I both love this, but will add more cranberries next time. Going to make this again for a fundraiser bake sale. Will make a cream cheese frosting then also, but good without icing also.

Forfar Bridies

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2013
Tried these a couple of times with beef & pork. I did take others suggestion & added some veggie & even tried puff pastry & crescent roll instead of pie crust. Nothing seemed to help & ws disappointed. I do have other recipes from this site that do a "pot pie" type of entree better. I think it just lacked the flavor I'm used to in our cooking, rather blah.

Sensational Steak Sandwich

Pretty good. I did use my homemade ciabatti bread (from this site) instead of the french bread. Will make again.

Sweet Party Mix

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2013
I'll make again, but either use a 15oz box or more of cereal or use less butter, corn syprup & brown sugar. This was very good, just to sweet as is.

Black Bean Salsa

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2013
Need to make a few changes next time. We did use cumin as suggested, but don't add the cilantro until ready to serve. Thought letting it sit to add to the flavor made it bitter tasting.

Chocolate Crinkles II

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2013
Made just like instructions said. We did divide the dough into 3 portions for easier handling. Made one portion with mint choc chips, which was great, one portion with regular choc chips, which was ok, & the last portion as is, which was just like a brownie. These were very hard to combine all the ingredients my husband said because it is very stiff. They are very good & you don't want them bigger than the one inch ball when rolling.
