Black Forest Cake I

Reviewed: May 11, 2011
Excellent basic chocolate cake! We are lucky enough to have our own sour cherry tree, so I used my own cherries to make a cherry topping/filling as well as our own kirsch to add to the cake while it was cooling! Excellent recipe!

I made this with a sour cherry and cream cheese layer instead of apples - it was AWESOME.

Tasty Lentil Tacos

Really good - I used veg. broth to make it vegetarian, a little salt and a dash of cayenne for some heat - and really, really great!

Cabbage Rolls II

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2010
Good and easy, though a little bland. The second time I made them, I added garlic, onion, and some other seasonings and it helped.

Butterscotch Bread Pudding

Reviewed: May 1, 2010
This... is... AWESOME. I ended up splitting it into two pans when I made it, and froze one of them for a few weeks. Once thawed, reheated in the microwave before eating... it just gets better!!

Baby Back Ribs

Reviewed: May 1, 2010
I neglected to plan for marinating overnight, but I marinated for about an hour with the dry rub suggestions given, then baked in the foil with just a little barbeque sauce (300 degrees, 2.25hrs) and then finished by adding sauce and broiling for 10 minutes. A HUGE hit. Also - thanks for the membrane removal tip!

Irish Cream Creme Brulee

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2010
Excellent, easy recipe. Bake and cool time does depend on ramekin size - I used the small, shallow oblong ramekins and it only took about 25 minutes to bake and set and half hour to cool. Will definitely be making this again with more flavors!

Ours came out with good flavor but not nearly moist enough... might need to alter cooking time.

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2010
We love this and it's so easy. And we've used it on other fish as well! The key for us was to up the parmesan a little and let it broil just until the cheese starts to brown... YUM.

Jo's Rosemary Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2010
Okay, so I used half all purpose flour and half wheat flour, and thyme instead of rosemary (forgot I was out of rosemary), and this was AWESOME. We dunked it in soup and had sandwiches for a couple days and I'm about to start another loaf!

Sensational Strawberry Shortcake

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2008
My new favorite for shortcake - lighter than biscuits but still has that flavor. I added a bit of cinnamon as well. Also - I halved the recipe as used 6" cake pans for a smaller recipe, because I didn't think the leftovers would stay fresh. A little odd, but well worth the try, I'll make it over and over and use it for other cakes! Fantastic recipe - thanks!
