About this Cook
I am married and have 3 grown children and 4 grandchildren. I enjoy doing my crafts and shopping. Hubby hates when I leave the house because I spend to much of his money. Love babysitting my youngest granddaughter Paige who is 15 months on April 13, 2008. She is the "apple of my eye".
My favorite things to cook
I have always loved baking, whether it be cookies, squares, pies, cakes or breads. Back in the late 70's, I started baking my own breads and buns, but gave them up because I started working and just didn't have enough time to devote. Now I am back to it again and loving it...waist doesn't though!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I guess one of the biggest family traditions that I have adopted and most of my family has also is having our big meals (turkey, roasts etc.)on Sunday evenings. My Mom, who is not with us anymore, worked Tues to Saturday, so Sunday was always the day we looked forward to...even more we looked forward to the leftovers on Mondays...yum yum
My cooking triumphs
I guess my biggest cooking triumph would be baking bread and buns. I am sure that in the olden days it was the norm, but nowadays you don't often have homemade bread and buns. Nothing like from the oven bread and buns.
My cooking tragedies
My most recent tragedy was forgetting to put salt in a bread recipe. It called for 5-6 cups of flour. I had only used 4 and it was just so tough. I kneaded it for 1/2 hour (ended up taking the skin off my baby knuckle). Re-read the recipe again and sure enough. I don't know why it was so tough but I think the salt is a leavening agent. Garbage pail ate well.

Baby Back Ribs
My hubby and I really enjoyed this recipe. I didn't make any changes to it. I think a lot of it depends on what brand of barbecue sauce that you use. I prefer the Kraft Chicken 'n Rib sauce. The ribs were done perfectly and not greasy like other ribs I have done. Very good recipe. Thanks

Chicken Wilson
My husband and I just had this chicken and it was simply delicious. The smell throughout the house had me salivating endlessly. Great deodorizer. The only thing I did differently was that I used cremini mushrooms and for cheese used a combination of provolone and mozzarella. Simply delicious. Thanks.

Fluffy Potato Casserole
I made this recipe and did what another person mentioned. I upped the potatoes to 4 cups and eggs to 3. I did however fry the onion in some bacon fat first. Added it all together and sprinkled w the ff onions. At first hubby only took a spoonful but soon went back for lots more. Excellant recipe...thanks
