Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2010
Now this is comfort food at its best. I followed the recipe and it is perfect as is. I'm not sure why some people only add one can of biscuits but if you do make this add BOTH CANS of biscuits. It is the best part. You won't reget it! Thanks for the delicious and easy recipe.

Restaurant-Style Coleslaw I

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2010
Ok my husband will only eat KFC coleslaw until I made this. However the slaw at KFC is chopped up into very tiny bits. So it was a true labor of love for me when I decided to cut my cabbage the same way. The dressing however is perfection. I even used all milk with no buttermilk and it was fantastic. I think even the Colonel would be jealous.

Donut Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2010
These are really good! I give them five stars even though I feel there is to much nutmeg. I love nutmeg but it kinda of even overpowers the cinnamon/sugar mixture. Next time I will cut the nutmeg in half. Otherwise moist and delicious and who knew even without an egg. Thanks for the fun recipe!

Slider-Style Mini Burgers

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2010
These are fantastic and yes do taste just like white castles!! I have made these many times and FYI - you can make these ahead of time. I made them up in the morning and wrapped them in the foil and refrigerated until I needed them. I let them sit at room temp for half and hour and then baked as recipe directs. Came out perfect. Thanks for sharing. Everyone loves these!!!

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Reviewed: May 25, 2010
This was amazing! I was a little worried about what a pork roast cooking in root beer was gonna smell like all day in my house and to my surprise it smelled just like an awesome barbecue. I followed the recipe exactly and used the pork tenderloin. I know some suggest other cuts of pork but I say use a tenderloin. Super tender. tons of flavor and a lot less yucky fat!!!

Insanely Amazing Jalapeno Cheese Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2010
I hate mayo but I love, love, love this dip! Crazy I know. Thought about substituting sour cream but did not due to all the positive reviews on this dip. I did not even have a bread bowl just ate with tortilla chips. Also, I would always use real mayo not Miracle Whip. To me there is a huge difference.

Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2009
Very Yummy and easy! However be careful when buying your sauce. As others I used the Franks Red Hot Wing Sauce. Do not confuse this with the regular Franks Red Hot otherwise your dish will be super hot! The bottle must say Franks Red Hot Wing Sauce and it has plenty of kick on its own. Topping your sandwiches with blue cheese dressing or blue cheese crumbles is delicious and its cuts the heat.

Slow Cooker Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2009
This is so awesome and so easy. I used red wine (merlot) in place of the water which is always delightful with red meat. And just as a personal preference I used 4oz. of sour cream instead of cream cheese and also added parsley when adding the sour cream to make it look pretty. Oh, and please add mushrooms or you will kick yourself. I served mine on rice but I can't wait to try on noodles.

Perfect Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2009
I have made this pie forever. I always make several for Thanksgiving and I always make them the day before and then refrigerate them. They really seem extra creamy when this is done. Topping with whipped cream is a must! Make this pie and I guarantee you will adore this too!

Pretzel Turtles

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2009
You must make this! It is so easy and so impressive. I drizzled them with white chocolate that I colored red and green for Christmas and brought them to a party. I heard friends commenting it was the best thing there! I used the square snap pretzels and of course toasting your pecans is a must. Everyone always wants to know how did you get the caramel in the middle?? So fun!!

Praline Pumpkin Mousse

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2009
This is not a gourmet recipe however, it is a very yummy dessert for the fall. My son could eat the whole bowl. Sometimes I put the mixture in a graham cracker pie crust and then top with the pecans. Very pretty and different than the usual pumpkin pie.

Hot Artichoke and Spinach Dip II

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2009
This is the real deal! Look no further. So fresh it is better than restaurant dip! Great served with tortilla chips but even better served with Rosemary and Olive Oil Triscuits!!!

Artichoke & Spinach Dip Restaurant Style

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2009
Sorry but I guess I just didn't like this. All the ingredients are great and I even used a good quality Alfredo sauce but somehow I always feel like the alfredo in a jar tastes fake and like cardboard. The other indredients did not cover that up for me. If you don't like the alfredo in the jar I would not try this. Thanks anyway!

Jackie's Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2009
I adore this soup! However, I was trying to duplicate an Italian Wedding Soup served at a local restaurant. Their soup did not contain tomatoes so I left those out and it was exact. Yummy Italian wedding soup and so easy. I realize you could use meatballs in this but the sausage is so much easier.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2009
What a great comfort food! However, when I make a dish I am all about the appearance of it. I find that if I use the cream of mushroom soup my gravy has a kind of white pastey look to it. So I switched to using 2 cans of the golden mushroom soup instead. Now my gravy has a nice brown color to it and the taste is even more rich in my opinion. Thanks for the great recipe Brenda!

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2009
This soup is really excellent! I am only giving 4 stars because it can taste like chicken chili. My way to get around this is to eliminate the chili beans and just use plain pinto beans. Also I use 2 packages of taco seasoning or the equivalent of that in regular spices. This is a crock pot absolutely full of ingredients. It needs a lot of seasoning. This makes the soup really taste like taco soup not chili. The toppings of tortilla chips and sour cream is a must. Awesome comfort food.

Chocolate Mousse Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2009
So darn easy and delicious! Whatever you do please use the Hershey bar with the almonds. The almonds add another layer of flavor and a little crunch. Without it this pie would be somewhat lacking in flavor. Oreo crust is the best.

Country Apple Dumplings

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2009
These are really great! Topping them with vanilla ice cream is a must. Whatever you do please do not use less mountain dew. The combination of the pop and the sugar/butter mixture creates a similar sauce that you would find on the inside of an apple pie. (Don't worry - it will thicken). You must spoon this mixture on top of your ice cream. I then top my ice cream with pecans. Crazy tasty!

Best Steak Marinade in Existence

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2009
The name of this recipe totally fits. We have been eating cheaper cuts of steak all summer due to the economy and I got to the point where I just could not eat them anymore until this recipe. I once again bought a cheap sirloin steak on sale. Followed this recipe exactly and let them marinate for 24 hours in a ziploc bag. I did flip the bag around from side to side in the fridge a few times so each side was marinated properly. Grilled them up and I was in steak heaven. The flavor was fantastic and tender like you would not believe. We talked about those steaks for days!!!

Bavarian Mints

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2009
My family adores the Fannie May mint meltaways and these are it. But whatever you do please do not use mint extract use the peppermint extract that is called for. I made the mistake one day and it was a fakey mint taste. You need the peppermint taste like the York peppermint patties. I also covered them in melted white chocolate mixed with a tiny amount green food coloring to give it that mint meltaway look.
