Asian Beef with Snow Peas

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2012
Liked this quite a bit. My only issue was the beef got a little on the tough side. I think next time I may sautee that last, instead of first, in an attempt to keep it more tender. I added mushrooms, which was a great addition. The sauce is really good. Per reviews I doubled it. (did find I needed to more than double to cornstarch in order to get it to thicken). Served on white rice. Will make again.

Christmas Cut-Out Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2012
Very good! We used vanilla instead of anise out of preference, and they were tasty. These cookies hold their shape very well, roll easily, and are easy to make. This is our new Christmas Cookie recipe. Thank you Nancy.

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2012
Very nice icing. Hardens and is shiny as stated. I did find I needed to add more milk than called for to get it to become "smooth". Was liberal with the almond flavoring as we love it. Will use this again when I make cut outs! Thanks for a great recipe!

Sour Cream Sugar Cookies IV

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2012
I did not care for this recipe. Made exactly as wirtten. My dough was refrigerated overnight per recipe. Very skeptical after I made it if it would work and to my dismay, it didn't. The dough was sooooo crumbly I could not get it to come together enough to roll out. Sorry, I had high hopes for it too. Ended up going with "Christmas Cut-Out Cookie" recipe instead. Which worked for me.

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2012
This is very tasty. The potatoes needed a little longer in the oven, but couldn't wait because everything else was ready. Chopped onion instead of slicing into rings. The sauce is rich and cheesy. I used sharp cheddar which was delicious. My grandmother was scooping up all the sauce to eat with her dinner. Will make again. Easier than one would have thought it would be.

Mom's Potato Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2012
I never knew making potato salad was so easy. I used white potatoes and the skins slide right off after boiling. I even like it while its warm before sticking in the fridge.

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2012
Been making this for several years. My husbands family calls it "baked corn". For some reason every single time I make it, it is never done on time. I always need to cook a tad longer. When I have doubled it I find it takes quite a bit longer. I usually make it for Thanksgiving each year, sometimes Easter and Christmas. Once in a while as a treat I will make it as a side dish when it's not a holiday. I love this as leftovers, warmed in the microwave. This is good stuff!

Meltaway MINT Chocolate Chip Bundt Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2012
Very good! Made this for Thanksiving dessert (why not go with chocolate, right?). It was super easy. I could not find mint chocolate chips at the grocery store, despite it being the holiday season. I went with a package of Andes candies, and chopped them into medium-small bits. This cake is very moist and nice fudgy taste. btw- the cake mixes at the grocery store were all smaller than the recipe states, went with Duncan Hines which was the largest of them all. Delicious! Thanks for this recipe!

Cranberry Sauce Extraordinaire

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2012
Wonderful! Made night before Thanksgiving. Turned out delicious. The only thing I did differently was to use a small can of mandarin oranges (pureed per recipe) instead of an orange. Love the spices. I bought one cup of dried friuit from the bulk section. It had pineapple, apple, mango, apricots and cranberries in it. This is a great recipe. If you are thinking of trying it, do it! You wont be sorry. I could see how this would also be good over cream cheese on crackers.

Pecan French Toast

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2012
It's pretty good. Some reviewers said it was sweet enough that it didn't need syrup. We did not find this to be true. Nice flavor. Liked the addition of the crunchy nuts on top. It has a nice subtle flavor of orange (would probably have been stronger with the zest- which I didn't use because it was so late at night when I made it, and I was tired). Baked mine 20 min (checked after 10, and 5 and 5).

Slow Cooker Teriyaki Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2012
Wonderful! I made one package of tenderloins whick was just over 4 pounds. So I doubled the sauce. "I love that sauce", per husband. Cooked 4 hours on low, and about 30-45 min on high at the end. Mine sliced, but was so tender it cut like butter. Fo the sauce, I used a few good shakes of red pepper flakes as I am a whimp about spiciness. The teriyaki sauce I bought was our own store brand. Turned out really good. Served with mashed potatoes and spooned thickened sauce over them too. Will make again for sure!

Broccoli Rice Casserole

A great recipe that is so comforting. I often add a bit more rice and then just use the whole jar of cheese wiz (15oz).

Caramel Apples

Recipe is easy enough. However, I sprayed wax paper as instructed and the caramel still stuck to the paper. Perhaps it was the caramels I chose?!

Baked Bar-be-Que Chicken

Tasted good to me. Easy. I was seeking help with a temp and time to bake BBQ chicken with a variety of types of pieces. It worked well.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2012
Delicious! I made this using 4 medium-largish bananas (came to a little over 2 cups). Nice banana flavor, mashed them leaving it a little chunky. I did add about 1 teaspoon of vanilla. Easy to put together and smelled divine while baking! I saw one reviewer who brushed top with a combo of brown sugar and water for a crunchy top, so I tried that. It worked well and looks pretty. Great recipe!

Chocolate Hazelnut Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2012
I did not have Jiff Hazelnut spread but did have Nutella. I know as Jiff is the sponsor of this recipe, this could be deleted. lol Anyway, Since I was feeling lazy, I made this into a bar cookie instead as directed at the bottom of the recipe. Turned out very good. I used the crisco sticks, but since I didn't have the butter flavored ones I substituted about 2 T of shortening for butter to give some butter flavor. In bar form these are somewhat similar to brownies but my husbands says "better than brownies". Pretty easy to make and nice flavors.

Beef Chimichangas

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2012
We loved this recipe. I did not add the vinegar because it felt weird to do so. I did add a little salsa as when I tasted it I felt it needed some tomato (as some other reviewers did as well). I also used flour tortillas. Shoot, maybe I shouldn't have reviewed this, seeing as I now realize I made a few changes. Oh well, anyway this was so good! My bundles turned out crispy. I dipped mine in sour cream and salsa. Oh my! Both my husband and I felt these tasted even better the next day. (but were not as crispy- but it didn't matter). I plan on making over and over. Oh, and I decided I like the filling as a dip for tortilla chips or as nachos.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2012
Very good. I believe I added a bit more cinnamon than called for out of preference. Other than that, did not change a thing. Moist and delicious. Kept quite a while in the fridge.

Pumpkin Pancakes

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2012
Wonderful! The batter was thick, but it made it a bit easier to work with for my daughter who is a novice cook (and chose this recipe). They were nicely spiced . She cut them with cookie cutters and served them to us that way. She also had dollops of whipped cream on the side which enhanced the flavors. Lovely! will made again!

Amazing Stuffed Peppers

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2012
Yummy! I made these for my daughter's birthday, as stuffed peppers are her favorite. I didn't use sausage and opted to use ground beef instead. A bit on the time consuming side, but making stuffed peppers is always that way. I used Ragu - Tomato and 7 herbs sauce and it was perfect. Added a bit more sauce to the stuffing mix to get the consistence and taste I was looking for. I think I baked them about 1 hour. SO GOOD!! (daughter was very pleased!) Thank you Bon Appetit!!!
