Besan (Gram Flour) Halwa

Reviewed: May 14, 2012
Followed directions as is - minus the cardamom as I did not have any on hand. It didn't take more than 5 minutes after adding the milk. Came together perfect. Thanks for an amazing recipe! :)

Bread Pudding II

Glad I chose this recipe. So quick and easy to put together! Good taste, not too sweet. I added a handful of raisins and chopped walnuts. The extra crunch was nice.

Perfect Berry Shortcakes

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2011
Made shortcake for the first time today and glad I chose this recipe. Served with fresh strawberries (let them sit in sugar for a bit, this made a very yummy syrup.) I did burn the bottoms just a little but only because I haven't quite got the hang of my oven. The egg white and sugar topping is definitely worth the extra effort. Also, next time I think I will cut into smaller portions before baking, just a personal preference. Thanks for a great recipe! :)

Cinnamon Swirl Bundt Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2011
Yum! Good coffee cake. Used brown sugar for the swirl and reduced the white sugar to 1 and a quarter cups and it was just the right sweet. Might reduce the white sugar even more the next time. Dusted with icing sugar, very pretty!

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2011
Yum!!! After looking through countless cinnamon roll recipes, glad I tried this one. Didn't have bread flour so used all-purpose and used butter in place of the margarine. Also, the full cup of brown sugar seemed like too much so reduced it to 3/4. Don't have a bread machine so I made the dough in my mixer, let it rise for two hours, did the filling, let it rise for another hour and baked it. Didn't make any icing and still very, very good! Family raved. Time consuming but worth the effort. :)

Kettle Corn

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2010
This is good stuff. Definitely try it with salt though, made all the difference for me. I had been making it as is for my little brother and didn't think much of it until I thought I'd try a sweet/salty version-just a generous dash of salt once the kernels are all popped. Nice.

Simple White Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2010
I had some buttercream icing to use up and thought I'd try making a white cake for the first time. I'm so glad I did because this cake is gorgeous. Made it twice within a week. I did follow suggestions and upped the milk about 1/4 cup. Other than that followed the recipe exactly, used up my buttercream icing and topped it off with crushed almonds and grated chocolate. Family raved. Thank you for a great recipe!

Kalacs (Hungarian Cinnamon Swirl Bread)

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2010
This is the best!!! Have made it twice and came out perfect both times. Followed the recipe exactly as is...didn't have a loaf pan so just covered my baking tray with foil paper and it worked just fine. Tastes divine toasted with butter!

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2010
Wanted to try something different and chose this. Followed the recipe as is-not bad but surprisingly even with all those bananas it is kind of bland. I've been eating it with peanut butter slathered on top, just to give it that something. It did bake up beautifully, just missing something in taste. Maybe a cinnamon/brown sugar topping?

Apple Banana Cupcakes

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2010
Followed the recipe exactly, just substituted with canola oil for shortening and these were delicious! Any kind of frosting would probably just take away from the flavor I think. They didn't rise as much as I would have liked though...maybe because I only filled muffin cups half-way as stated in the recipe. Will go upto 3/4 full next time. Thank you for a wonderful recipe!

These are extraordinary!! Absloutely delicious!! I didn't have butter so substituted with margarine. Made 9 large muffins, rose perfectly and were exquisite even without the topping. Will definitely be making these again and again! Thank you!

Lemon Pudding Cake I

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2010
I'm a beginner baker and this was such a dissapointment. I did follow the recipe exactly only to find that after 45 minutes in the oven at 175C it was still liquidy and hardly cooked through. Turned it up to about 270C and the water started to boil and it started to get firm but did not brown so tunred the griller on for about five minutes. Took it out, let it cool and on tasting it, WAY TOO SWEET!!! I don't know what I'm going to do with the rest of it.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Nut Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2010
I've never made muffins before, just made these: I followed suggestions and used 1.5 cups milk, 3 tbsp oil and 3/4 cup cocoa powder. While they did rise beautifully, tad too chocolatey for my personal taste but definitely good for that occasional chocolate craving with a cold glass of milk.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2010
I'm a beginner as far as baking goes and this is the second recipe I've tried. Halved the reciped and just baked my first batch. They look gorgeous and came out perfectly! The classic gooeey cookies...just a tad too sweet for my personal taste. Next time I'll just cut down on the sugar and chocolate chips a bit. Looking forward to baking these again. Thanks for the recipe, this is just the texture I was looking for! :)
