About this Cook
i'm a transplant to NC by way of PA. My mom was a wonderful cook so I learned at her knee. I can remember watching Julia Child as a young child. I've been married 23 years and have 1 son, a step son and step daughter and 5 grandkids. My dad is Italian and my mom was German/Pennsylvania Dutch so I got exposed to lots of different foods.
My favorite things to cook
main meals, hate to bake or do desserts, I get more flour on me then in the recipe. that said i have been doing some bread baking lately, guess it's the challenge of being a sucessful or at least in my case a semi successful baker
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love doing the holidays and big throw downs for friends in the back yard, the youngest son love 7 up salad (jello salad w/ cream cheese, pineaple and of course 7 up) and the DH loves my augrautin potatoe if we have those 2 dinners complete for them :)
My cooking triumphs
We used to host exchange students and I made beef burgandy for them they said it was just like their moms. also did a cream puff pie drizzled w/ sugar syrup that looked like spider webbing when i was done. one of the few things i can actually bake are cream puffs.
My cooking tragedies
hmmm i've had a few the most recent one was when i accidently put pudding mix in a creole dish thinking it was cornstarch, wow couldn't eat that one!

Flatlander Chili
the recipe in itsself is good..had 2 up chili powder and cumin 2 my personal preference. also added a teasp of paprika, couple tablespoons of chopped jared jalepanos, used 4 6 oz cans of tomatoe juice w/ 24 onces of petite diced tom & chilis and half cup of water instead of the 46 oz of tomatoe juice. along w the 2 cans of tomatoe sauce called for. did not used tomatoe paste also ised 1 can of kidneys and 1 can of black beans rinsed and drained..in the crock pot now..rated this 5 stars with the changes if done as called 4 i would have given it a lower rating don't think it would have been thick enough or had enough chili/cumin flavor

Awesome Turkey Sandwich
while this may taste delish i hardly think 50+ grams of fat w/ 20 of them being saturated can hardly be considered healthy!
