Just an average guy who learned to cook at a young age, I feed a family of 6 and do my best to keep it low carb and good. I have adopted the low and lower carb life for help with weight control, and nothing is better than, fresh food, I like to keep veg seasonal and local, farmer's markets are great shopping trips. Some day would like to have a hobby farm grow my own veggies and meats, make my own cheese and beer, all cooking is always better with a beer.
My favorite things to cook
I like to smoke meats, and cook Mexican, French and good old American classics. I love to make home made ice cream, really the only desert I will make and also enjoy. Stews and soups are also among my fav's to cook, long and slow and very hearty.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanks giving has to be my favorite, I get the boys up early and we spend the whole day off and on in the kitchen, the house smells wonderful and when the whole clan shows up it is always such a good time. Sunday breakfast and diner is also a special family time for me a day to pray and give thanks for our blessings and working with the kids in the kitchen, I look foward to Sunday every week.
My cooking triumphs
I make great smoked brisket, and always get a thrill when people enjoy it. Big meals are when I'm most happy, lots of people in the house and good food and company.
My cooking tragedies
Another reason I like low carb is I can't bake, I once may sweet rolls for the church fellowship hour, and they were so dense and flat I just set them on the table and didn't attend that day, I should have just gone to the store and bought some, but I promised home made rolls. ooops live and learn, I later found out that my yeast was bad. I've made a few other clunkers, but I enjoy learning from my mistakes.
