Mexican Wedding Cakes II

I have always liked these, but had never tried making them. Other than not having nuts, I followed the recipe exactly. (I've never had these with nuts in them, and the kids won't eat nuts, anyway.) The dough is so sticky and messy that I can't fathom being able to roll it into balls. I read through a lot of reviews but couldn't figure out what I'm doing wrong, since it seemed so simple. Even after sitting in the freezer, the dough kept it's sticky texture. Disappointed. They turned out okay to eat, but looked terrible, and I was looking for a cookie that I could make for a friend.

Mini Crescent Burgers

Simple and tastes good. I thought I wasn't going to have enough of the mixture, so I went easy, but then had some leftover. So if it doesn't look like enough, it will be. Tasted good straight from the pan as well as from the oven. Will likely make this again.

Best Brownies

I don't like chocolate, so I don't have much to offer- but it was easy to make, looks nice, and the kids said they're great! One said it's like a chocolate explosion.

Fluffy French Toast

I've followed this recipe twice, with the same result both times. I'm not sure what the addition of flour is supposed to do, all we could tell was that it made the toast lumpy and taste... well, like flour. I will most likely not try this again.

Fried Cinnamon Strips

*Did not use nutmeg, but doubled the cinnamon. They taste like cinnamon toast crunch, which I thought was great. They taste best fresh and warm- the kids wanted to save some to take to school, so we made a big batch- the leftover ones weren't as great. Definitely a fast, easy snack.

Brownies with Peanut Butter Fudge Frosting

Only reviewing the icing itself- made this to put on top of some peanut butter brownies, which was great. Put aside some extra to use as an ice cream topping. Really rich, but really good.

The Whole Jar of Peanut Butter Cookies

These are fantastic! My ten year old son made these by himself for a cookie contest. We were eating them up just as soon as they came out of the oven. *replaced peanuts with semi-sweet chocolate, tasted like a reeses.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

I've never liked pancakes... but these smelled so good, I had to try some and wound up eating four. Fixed a triple batch for 6 kids and only had a few left. Will definitely use again & again.

Famous Pork Chops

Not the greatest ever, but pretty good. Very simple. The amounts specified in the directions worked for 7 pork chops, one-inch thick. Covered the pan with foil and did not check during baking.

Baked Macaroni and Cheese

Really soupy. Baked longer than suggested and then had to move the whole concoction back into a pot to boil the liquid off, then add more cheese.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Not sure what the deal is. Followed the recipe as-is and got weird, sponge-like cookies that stuck to the pan. Similar to what some of the other reviewers called 'a cake cookie'. Definitely not what I was expecting and while it's edible, I wouldn't call it a cookie. Disappointed.

Omelet in a Mug

I was definitely skeptical. Scrambled eggs from a mug in the microwave? Works great! Amazingly simple and will be something my kids can fix for themselves on school mornings. Tastes just like eggs from the pan- just watch that it doesn't 'bubble over' as it grows, and let it cool since it's hotter than eggs straight from the skillet. So glad to find this.

Baked Spaghetti

This is a good way to get the kids to eat spaghetti when they feel like they're tired of it. I used this with 'leftover' noodles... I'm not sure about the addition of ricotta/cottage cheese because I couldn't bring myself to put it in there. It just doesn't sound good to me.

Rainbow Clown Cake

I will be making this again. It looked great and tasted even better. I used regular drop-in food coloring and the colors were still bright. Needed another batch, but realized I was out of eggs- searched for a substitution and used some sprite instead. Those turned out even brighter and softer. Try this cake!

Hot Dog Men

We are super busy with ball practices, and eat quick foods like hot dogs often. I was glad to find a variation that seemed different than a 'regular' hot dog. They like them when I slice it like an octopus. My oldest, who claims to dislike hot dogs, asks for seconds this way and asks for them when friends come over. (And she's in middle school!)
