I live in Ottawa, with my boyfriend and our small zoo (we have two cats, three snakes, fish and a gecko). I'm from Muskoka but have lived here for almost ten years. I love to bake and try new recipes.

I don't actually have any family cooking traditions so we're in the process of starting our own.
My cooking triumphs
In the almost six years i've been cooking for me and my boyfriend, I've only had one dish turn out really badly. So every day is a little triumph.
My cooking tragedies
I set some muffins on fire by getting distracted. :/

Pumpkin Pancakes
This is a really good recipe but I found the batter too thick. My first batch of pancakes were not dry on top by the time the bottom was done, even though I heated the skillet throughly before pouring the batter. I added a splash more milk and it worked perfectly, maybe 2 tbsp more than the recipe called for. Delicious, fragrant and fast!

No Bake Peanut Butter Pie
I changed the recipe to make only one pie as it was just me and my boyfriend last thanksgiving. He absolutely loved it! He kept going back for more. I found it very hard to cut so I had to let the pie sit out for a few minutes and use a knife run under hot water.

Perfect Pumpkin Pie
I made this last Thanksgiving and the whole pie was gone by the next day (it was only me and my boyfriend). I didn't use separate spices though, as I had already mixed up own pumpkin pie spice a week before I used that so I don't know exactly how much of each went in. I also used a but more spice then called for because I LOVE pumpkin pie spice and wanted it to be stronger.
