The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2004
This recipe is TERRIBLE. If I could give it zero stars, I would. First of all, I am an experienced cook, and always follow my instructions implicitly. The dough is TOO STICKY to be rolled out. It's a nightmare, actually. The cookies puff up like tiny cakes (and yes, I used the all purpose flour) and don't brown. They're not sweet enough and have the texture of cake. But first and foremost, they don't roll out. I was making these for my nieces valentine's day party and now, it's ruined. I can't cut them out, the dough is impossible sticky and not "roll out" consistency. I have no idea how this recipe received such high ratings...I picked it on the basis of the feedback, but now, I find I was sadly mistakened. Just a terrible, terrible cookie.

Best Carrot Cake Ever

Reviewed: May 8, 2001
This cake is incredible...very moist and decadent, yet not too sweet. I used a cream cheese frosting with a 1/2 teaspooon of cinnamon and nutmeg mixed in the frosting. It really brought out the rich flavor of the cake! Instead of making a 10 inch 2-layer cake, I made an 8 inch three layer and it turned out beautifully. I will definitely make this cake again.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2001
I made these for an Easter brunch and they were a big hit. My major complaint is that I filled the cups to the top (as the recipe instructed) and they ran over the pans and into the stove. I would use big Texas-style muffin tins if you are going to make these muffins according to the directions. If not, then only fill them halfway.

Lemon Poppy Seed Muffins I

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2000
This recipe is perfect for a formal brunch. The highlight is the lemony mixture poured into each of the muffins, giving it a delightfully perky taste. I made these for a Mother's Day brunch and they were the talk of the morning! One woman made the remark that these were the only thing she wanted for her birthday! What a great recipe.

This pie turned out beautifully. I used the recipe for "Best Ever Pie Crust" which can be found here: http://pierecipe.com/az/BestEverPieCrust.asp It was delicious and no trouble at all to make. I recommend it to anyone!

Best Ever Pie Crust

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2000
This was the first time I ever made a homemade crust, and everyone raved! It was delicious, flaky and withstood handling. I didn't need all of the water, so I only used 1/4 cup. What a great recipe!

Corned Beef and Cabbage I

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2000
A wonderful taste of Irish tradition. Cooking this dish put me in touch with my Irish heritage and served as the appropriate star of my St. Patty's Day table. I pressure cooked my brisket and it was much faster and just as tender. Also, I cooked my vegetables separately in the beef's broth. It was splendid!
