My favorite things to cook
You are always onto a winner with the simple things like mashed potatoes and hamburger gravy. My potato salad and my cinnamon rolls go over well with friends. We also really like experimenting with Japanese food. Nice clean flavors and always looks really good.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Finnish flat bread, Indian Curries, Christmas baking (especially gingerbread houses).
My cooking triumphs
Roast dinners, gingerbread castles, wedding cake, making foods that I find in restaurants at home.
My cooking tragedies
Wrestling with poor appliances causes the most grief. Learning to work with bread dough was fairly awful. Currently I struggle to adapt my American and German recipes for cooking in the UK.

Bee Sting Cake (Bienenstich) II
I have been craving this cake for years. Even though my results weren't as good as the German bakery version, I was still well impressed. The almond topping was a big hit. Next time I will skip the almond extract. To save time and extra pans, I used a can of Ambrosia Devon Cream custard whipped with the heavy cream. Fantastic!
