A little over a year ago, I had type II diabetes, a heart condition, had a heart attack, several times had congestive heart failure, bad leg pains.I was a regular at the Dr's office.        It took me about 7 months to lose 102# & have kept it off since then. My legs don't hurt near as bad, &… MORE

About this Cook
I am 56 years old, & love to cook most anything. I am not a cook of the fancier things because I live nowhere near the ingredients, but do put out a beautiful plate. I have cooked in restaurants most of my life. I also cater.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake, do candies, BBQ, Desserts, you name it! I recently started decorating cookies, cakes, etc & love it.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving is my most favorite family tradition. We all met at my Grandmother's in Poteau, OK & cooked everything there.
My cooking triumphs
I am on another cooking club on here & have a doughnut recipe that won a blue ribbon & then got featured & put in newspapers around the US & then was voted as one of the top 100 recipes on that site to be put in the 2012 recipe book voted on by the members. I was honored.I just won the Wilton's contest with it. I had to tell what my fondest memory was of cooking with my mother & that was it. I won 2 ultimate cake & cookie decorating kits with totes. A $500 value. I never win anything! I won the Best recipe for 2012 for Better Recipes which was $2000. Such an honor. I also was recently in the Macy's Grilling Guru contest as one of the 6 finalists. We were flown to Atlanta for the final showdown & met with the judges, who were Cat Cora, Mark Forgione, & Stephanie Izzard. While I did not win the $10,000, I did win a $500 Macy's gift card & had the time of my life.

Heavenly Lemon Cake
I used a bunt pan for a different effect & loved it. Definitely lemony. I also used my lemon sauce that I use on my bread pudding as an addition for each piece. Everyone loved it.

Rotini with Asparagus, Salmon and Cherry Tomatoes
I didn't like this recipe so much. It was flavorless.

Wavy Lasagna with Meat Sauce, Fresh Ricotta and Spinach
I loved this but used an extra jar of sauce & added cooked bulk Italian sausage. This will be a regular for me.
