I'm married with two wonderful little boys ages 5&6.Jakob is my oldest, and David is my little one. I just celebrated my 6 year wedding anniversary in April (12 years together total,we were together through high school and married on our six year anniversary we were waiting for him to get through some college first).
My favorite things to cook
Just about anything I can get my hands on a recipe for. As long as it makes someone happy.
My favorite family cooking traditions
There were really no cooking mentors in my family. I kind of started to become obsessed with cooking in high school home ec. I loved having nothing to start and something absolutely delicious at the end. When we lived with my Grandmother food was only ever served two ways BURNT TO A CRISP or STILL FROZEN, never any happy medium. My mother obviously picked up her lack of cooking from her mother. Pork always was shoe leather and gross. So I never liked pork until I started cooking and discovered the flavor and juiciness of tenderloin. Not dried out chops.
My cooking triumphs
Toasted coconut cookies, Key lime pie, too many other recipes to list in this small space.
My cooking tragedies
Pancakes no matter from scratch, box of mix or Shake and Pour. So my husband makes them when we want them. First scratch chocolate cake didn't know there was a difference between bakng soda and baking powder. "Cake" and I use that term loosely looked and felt like FLUBBER. It was full of craters and turned out this strange orangey color.
