Christmas Wreaths

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2011
1/2 a cup of butter to 30 marshmallows is too much. It worked with 1/4 cup of butter. I didn't add any vanilla. There really is no need for it. After 1 wreath I put the rest in a baking dish and sprinkled red hots on top then cut into squares after it cooled.

Two Ingredient Pumpkin Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2011
I made this as written and baked in a bundt pan. It was very thick and didn't even out at all so what you put in is what you get. I frosted it with cream cheese frosting that I added some pumpkin pie spice to. The taste is fine, however next time I will take the advise of others and add 2 eggs.

Chocolate Cherry Cake II

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2011
I used devils food cake mix because it was all I had and vanilla extract instead of almond. I also sifted my cake mix first to break up the clumps and beat the eggs before I added them. This was a very thick batter but it baked to a really moist cake. I can't wait to try other flavor combos!

Baked Potato Soup

Reviewed: May 28, 2011
I ended up adding some potato buds to thicken it more and I left out the salt figuring the bacon, broth and cheese would have enough and it had plenty of flavor. I didn't have hot pepper sauce so I added a dash of pepper flakes. This was pretty good with the changes I made.

I added some broken graham crackers in the bottom of the ramekins and some mini marshmallows to the chocolate for a Smores effect. WOW!

These always turn out great for me! I did put alittle ground cloves in my cinnamon as another suggested to enhance the cinnamon flavor but that was the only change I made. YUM!

MMMMM... Brownies

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2011
These brownies were awesome! I had to modify the chocolate a bit to work with what I had on hand (combo of semi sweet baking squares, cocoa powder, and hershey kisses) I took the advice of others and only used 1/2 the amount of salt it could be omitted entirely though esp if using salted butter. The texture of these brownies were the best that I have ever made. Mine took about 30 mins to cook thru.

Banana Cream Pie I

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2011
I made this using the 3 T corn starch option. I also put mine in a graham cracker crust. I did not follow the last step of putting it in the oven. It is not neccessary. Pour the filling into the crust and chill. I topped mine with cool whip and it set up nicely. For those that are getting a runny pie I could only think that maybe you aren't cooking it on the stove top long enough. I have had that problem before. It should be thick when you pour it in the crust and thicken more upon chilling.

Scalloped Potatoes and Onions

I added ham as others have and I also cooked mine in the slow cooker for about 4 to 4 1/2 hours on low. This bought me more time to get other things done before dinner.

Awesome as is or you can add seasonings to flavor it up some. I try to bake mine for about 10 mins before I top it as others have suggested.

Creme Brulee

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2011
I've made this several times and follow the other reviewers notes about skipping the double boiler method. I also cook mine in a water bath for about 30 mins at 375*. I never add the brown sugar. For flavor changes sometimes I add Bailey's Irish cream (about 2 TBSP) to the egg mixture or this last time I added freshly ground coffee to the cream while it was heating and a square of semi sweet chocolate chopped up just as I took it off of the stove. The mocha one was my best yet.

Super-Delicious Zuppa Toscana

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2011
I cooked this as is except after cooking sausage bacon onions and garlic I put that in a crock pot with the chicken broth. I cooked on low and about an hour before it was served added the cream and potatos. 15 mins before serving added the spinach (couldn't find Kale in this small town). This soup is so good on a cold day.

Banana Cake VI

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2011
The temp and freezer method works great so if you are skeptical give it a try. Mine took about 15-20 mins longer to bake. This also happened to be the day I was running out of everything. I was about 1/2 cup shy of white sugar so I substituted in some brown sugar. I only had about a cup of bananas so I used one of those little cups of applesauce as well. For extra flavor I added about 1/2 tsp of freshly ground nutmeg. I also used the Burnt Butter Frosting on this website instead of the cream cheese frosting. Oh and I didn't have buttermilk so I did the lemon juice/milk combo and I wanted to save my butter for the frosting so I used marg in the cake. The taste is still great.

Really tasty! I had just ran out of milk so I used 1/2 and 1/2. I only used half of the recipe and spread it on the Banana Cake VI from this site.

Cinnamon Popcorn II

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2011
I used air popped popcorn for this recipe and took the advice of another reviewer and used alittle less butter than called for. Otherwise, this was delicious. I did not bake mine as others have and found it came out just fine so it seems as an unnecessary step to me, but it probably depends on how crunchy you like it. I mixed this half and half with kettle corn for my son's Valentine's Day party.

Cola Cake

So far I have tried regular coke, cherry coke and cherry vanilla dr. pepper. All are very good and I am anxious to try more. This is so quick and easy and the cake is very moist. I use the Coco-Cola Icing recipe on this site to top the cake. This hits the spot!

Really good quick recipe. We use this on top of the cola cake. I leave out the nuts due to an allergy and leave the rest the same.

Italian Bread Using a Bread Machine

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2011
I added about a tsp of onion powder, garlic powder, rosemary, and basil to the recipe. I skipped the egg water and cornmeal step and just brushed the pan and tops of the loaves with olive oil. I also baked in the oven with a tray of ice cubes under them. These made great loaves for sandwiches and was cheaper than Subway!

Soft Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2011
I used shortening instead of butter. I did not chill the dough and I soaked raisins in the eggs for awhile to plump them before adding them to the sugar mixture. The dough was alittle crumbly but the taste is awesome!
