About this Cook
I have been cooking since I was seven years old and I am not afraid to try new things. I have two children who are very picky but really interested in cooking, even though they are too young to cook what they want to cook. I am very artsy, I love music, and I love the outdoors. I am also probably the shyest person I know even though I am extremely opinionated.
My favorite things to cook
Sweets.... I don't have a huge sweet tooth but I love to make them and sample them. I also love cooking new things and home style cooking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family doesn't really have any traditions we all kinda do our own thing and cooking between family has been known to get kind of competitive. Hopefully I will change that with my own family.
My cooking triumphs
Fudge! I hear fudge is really hard to get right but my first attempt was with my own recipe and it turned out rich, firm, and silky. I would also have to say my first attempt at potato soup. I grew up eating my mothers soup every winter. Sadly I hadn't had it in over 10 years but I still remembered the taste like it was yesterday. Last winter I attempted to make my own from memory with a few variations of my own and the soup turned out amazing.
My cooking tragedies
The first time I made rice I completely burned the bottom and a few months ago I put the rice on the stove and went to work on something in another room and completely forgot it was on the stove... Needless to say the house filled with smoke and I had to toss my favorite porcelain coated aluminum pan in the trash.

Salmon Cakes II
These were really good but I did change it up. I added 1/4 cup shredded carrots, 2 tablespoons dried chives, a little garlic, a tablespoon lemon juice, and a 1/4 cup creme cheese. After everything was added it made 10 fair sized cakes.

Buttermilk Pancakes II
Awesome pancakes I made 2 dozen with this batch and they all disappeared. My 3 and 5 year olds ate 4 each and thats allot for them. :)

Maple Butter Frosting
this is excellent on banana pecan cakes but i would adjust the maple according to taste for those who don't care for a strong maple flavor or for those who think it doesn't taste enough like maple.
