I'm a private music teacher, wife of a great guy, stepmom to two great teenagers, and aunt to three of the world's best kids. They are my best critics, and my biggest fans.
My favorite things to cook
Honestly, I have A LOT of favorites... I'll just name a few. I really enjoy making desserts to share with friends and neighbors, especially cookies and homemade candies, REAL fudge made the old fashioned way, peanut brittle, cakes, pies, and breads. I also enjoy cooking Chicken Parmesan (my hubby says mine is better than Buca DiBeppo's), Chicken Chili for big crowds, turkey dinners, quesadillas, and great salads. I recently found a vietnamese torn chicken and cabbage salad that has so much wonderful flavor! :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Don't really have any. Except when I was a kid my stepmom used to make Spaghetti and salad every Monday night. My friends always wanted to eat over on spaghetti night. I'm trying to start new traditions, getting my stepkids and nieces and nephews in the kitchen with me.
My cooking triumphs
I used to be a restaurant manager, so I've gotten pretty good at cooking for large groups of people. As such, I've become the official cook for church, Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and ALL birthdays. I've gotten pretty good at handling crowds of people, and have come up with some creative ways to keep food fresh and warm as I prepare to serve it all!
My cooking tragedies
Well, when I was a kid I loved to cook but had no interest in the science behind it. I ended up making VERY INTERESTING substitutions, and ended up with some creations my family still laughs about. Among them; fried pizza, mashed pancakoes, and egg pie. I'm sure glad I never quit; my persistance paid off. Update: I also recently spent hours slow smoking a rack of ribs for my family, not my favorite but theirs, and caught them on fire. Yes, you heard me, I caught them ON FIRE... I have never successfully grilled ANYTHING. Guess I'll stick to indoor cooking for awhile...LOL

Clone of a Cinnabon
Very. very. very. delicious. when I make cinnamon rolls I usually double or triple the batch and freeze two batches after they're formed and in pans. when ready to bake I let them thaw and have their second rise before I bake them.

Pumpkin Cookies V
Refrigerate the shortening! Seriously, these are absolutely delicious cookies, but the second time I made them I used unopened shortening from the pantry and they flattened like pancakes. I felt like a ridiculous newbie for making the mistake. Still tasted good, though. I did read the other reviews and upped the spice factor. I used 1 Tbs cinnamon, 1/2 tsp nutmeg, 1/4 tsp cloves and a pinch of ginger. Also, instead of going through the icing trouble, I made a plain glaze with powdered sugar and milk and dipped the tops in, then made a spiced glaze with powdered sugar, the aforementioned spices, and milk, and drizzled it on top. Taste was phenomenal and it was a pretty presentation as well. Thanks for this recipe, it's an instant favorite.

Vintage Lemonade
This is THE lemonade recipe, the way to go. It's not really much trouble, but it's DELICIOUS and the perfect blend of sweet and sour.
