Pimento Olives...

So my boyfriends new food is pimento olives. I don't know why, but he likes to add them to his beer and calls it a "Minnesota Martini". Though I tried to explain to him that martinis have vodka... but whatever, he didn't care. LOL... but he did want me to buy him some olives since when he buys them they are too expensive. Well, I was in luck, this week Walgreen's had a in ad coupon for .99 cents on a small jar, and I just happened to have 2 coupons for $1.00 of any two Lindsay Olive product. So I scored them for .50 a jar. Not to bad in my opinion since I have no idea what a "great" price for these type of olives would be.

But of course I had more on my list to buy; Walgreen's was also having a BOGO sale on Purex laundry detergent that matched up with a BOGO coupon in the weeks prior coupon books from the newspaper. Unfortunately they were sold out of the BOGO detergent, but they did have the 3 in 1 sheets on sale for 2 for $9. I also had a Walgreens Register Reward for $5 that I wanted to use up before it expired. I am bad about that... I always lose out of expired rewards or catalinas... But here is what my transaction for the day looked like:

Transaction #1
3 in 1 Purex $4.50
x2 (buy 2 and get a $1 RR)
(1) BOGO Coupon
Olives x2  $2
(1) $1.00 off 2 Olives coupon
Altoids x2 .69
(1) $5.00 RR
Total: $1.73

Transaction #2
3 in 1 Purex $4.50 x2
(buy 2 and get a $1 RR)
(1) BOGO Coupon
Olives x2 $2
(1) $1.00 off 2 Olives coupon
Altoids x2 .69
Total: $ 6.73

So I spent a total of roughly $9 OOP on 60 loads of laundry, 2 packs on mints, and 4 jars of Olives. But I also got back $2 in RR so once you factor those in I spent $7. Not to shabby.

Great deals, DQ! I have to run to Walgreens to pick up a prescription so I'll check out the other sales too. Had hubby with me yesterday so you know that's means no time to shop!

Good score on those olives!!! I love adding olives to my beer and I pour in some olive juice as well! I'll have to remember to call it a Minnesota Martini from now on!!

Cindy, I have got my mom started in couponing now and my dad always complains about how "long" it takes to shop the deals...

Walgreens is my favorite for the deals! I'm just about to run out of body wash and toothpaste I stockpiled around a year ago! I haven't seen the "free" bodywash in awhile. Maybe it'll come back soon. I did score toothpaste last month for $.04 at Wags :)

Ya, I think finding free in this economy is hard right now. It seems everyone is cracking down on coupons and deals lately. I know my stores stop stocking if there is a coupon that lines up with a sale...

My god, youre good! You put people like me to shame! I very rarely use coupons!! Keep it up.

I love deals like this. Last Sunday, I did a similar thing between the store coupons and my own that I cut out of the circulars, I had a fair amount of stuff. Shopped at Fred Meyer (Kroeger for some of you)My bill came to $92 and some change. After coupons I paid $57.39. I was tickled to death. I never think to go to Walgreens. I'll have to pay closer attention to what they have.

Good to know, I was planning on giving them to the boyfriend who does laundry with him work clothes at a laundromat. Thought it would beat lugging around liquid detergent and softner.

Our grocery store has their brand of medicine cabinet items on sale buy one get one for a $0.01 well the sale is comming less and less frequently and bandaids, alchol, and cotton balls don't go bad so the last time I really stocked up. I was picking out a magazine and left my cart at the end of the isle out of the way and a lady started shopping out of my cart thinking it was the bargin cart I'm sure. That's when you know you've gone a little over board on bargin shopping.

Meant to also say that I save $ on softener/dryer sheets by only using them in loads that have synthetic materials which would become "static clingy", or if I'm going to line dry outdoors things like denim jeans.

Trailing behind the others here w/ comments but I finally stumbled across your blog, lol. Wow, I was trying to follow you but easily got confused with the sales + coupons, etc. I really need to start saving coupons, I had no idea you could get hella sales like that. Right on, woman!
