Canadian Butter Tarts

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2010
This recipe was amazing! I made some with coconut, some with raisins, and some plain. The pastry made from scratch, I had to use margarine, but they tasted great because of the buttery flavor in the crust! I made my own brown sugar using about 2 tablespoons of molasses per cup of granulated sugar, so it was a nice dark brown sugar. They were runny, but my Canadian-born husband says they're supposed to be. He gives them a 10 (based on the husband scale)!

Aunt Anne's Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2011
My husband says "the consistancy isn't right but it tastes good". He just doesn't want to hurt my feelings. This was the densest cake I have ever made, it was absolutely horrible! Its wetter than banana bread! I should've known when the batter was thick like brownie batter that it would have the consistancy of a cookie. I'll never make this recipe again, there was nothing that could've been done to make it better.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2014
I did as most suggested: adjusted milk, and used onion soup mix instead of an onion and to my family's taste, more filler. I couldn't believe how much they loved it! Even the next day, my 8 yr old was asking if we had any more of that "meat stuff with the red on it". Thank you, tangastar for satisfying my pickiest of eaters!

Garlic-Lemon Double Stuffed Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2013
A new family favorite! I stuff those suckers right full of cheese and use whatever breading I have on hand (season it). And I find it needs just a bit longer to cook so I boiled the breasts for 20 minutes first.

Stuffed Cabbage Rolls

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2011
Only because I've actually had ones better from a campfire (but it would be 5 stars if not for that camping trip). I used mushroom spaghetti sauce per my husband's request. I cooked the meat and rice before-hand (I have trouble with directions lol) and added the egg when it cooled. I've never made these so I had to youtube a how to on rolling the cabbages. It was a lot easier than I thought and they tasted wonderful! I also used a bit of onion soup mix instead of onion like another user suggested. My husband said it put his mom's to shame ;)

Dark Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2008
With my secret ingredient of a teaspoon of tapioca starch for extra moisture this is "THE chocolate cake" recipe. Found it here and will use it forever. Everyone comments on how good this is in cupcake or cake form, even whoopie pies and swiss chocolate rolls!

German Rouladen

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2011
My nana is from Austria and this is her specialty. I was pleased to find that this is almost exactly like hers. We've altered ours to taste (like omitting the pickles, tenderizing the steaks, and halving the width of the strips to about an inch to inch and a half). I also do up mine in the crockpot for 6-8 hours on low (or 4-5 hours on high). God bless the germans for this awesome creation!

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2011
Too much oatmeal, not enough flour so I decreased the oatmeal to 2 cups and increased the flour to 1 and a half cups. The "fixed" batch turned out much better!

Korean BBQ Chicken Marinade

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2009
My husband made the marinade and then grilled it a few hours later, basting it every so often. His cooking skill went up a hundred points with this recipe! We will be making this again for sure!

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2008
400 degrees is way too high for these cookies, other than that, perfect. I burned the first batch at 375 and only 5 minutes-the bottoms were black, so be sure to turn the oven down to 350 F
